Generally dry, with minimal to no rain or snowfall, January boasts plenty of sunny days, making it a great time to enjoy clear skies and scenic views.

Best places to visit in Bhutan:

  • Paro: Explore the beautiful Paro Dzong, the Tiger's Nest Monastery (permit availability might be limited), and admire the stunning views of the Himalayas. Be prepared for colder temperatures, especially at night.
  • Punakha Valley: Enjoy warmer temperatures (up to 17°C) and stunning scenery with snow-capped mountains in the distance. Visit Punakha Dzong, hike Tiger's Nest (with limited permits in winter), or soak in the hot springs.
  • Phobjikha Valley: Witness the graceful black-necked cranes that migrate here for the winter, take a nature walk, or try horseback riding.
  • Bumthang: Experience a charming cultural and spiritual center with beautiful monasteries and temples. The weather here is cool with occasional frost, but generally pleasant during the day.

6d5n Bhutan Tour

Booked a 6D5N trip to Bhutan with Asia Odyssey and everything went very well! From the start, Cindy, who helped me select my schedule and walked me through the booking process, was very professional and responsive to all my queries.

The tour itself was amazing. My guide, Dorji, and driver, Momla, were both fantastic. I had booked a group tour but was the only one who signed up for those dates so it ended up kind of being a private tour, which was pretty lucky. Dorji was an enthusiastic and attentive guide who was very knowledgeable about the religious and historic sites we visited, without being boring nor overbearing. He also made sure I had everything I needed and was always quick to offer alternative activities if the day ended earlier than expected. I can't rave enough about Momla's driving skills, especially because the roads in Bhutan are pretty swervey and it's crazy how good at navigating he was.

Bhutan is such a beautiful country and definitely worth it. Very happy with the experience Asia Odyssey offered me and would not hesitate to do it again sometime in the future.

Arrival into Bhutan met by my guides for the week, Migma and Chimi and our driver, we were a group of 9 and for the next 6 days we were totally looked after
From the tour to the accommodations to the food everything was faultless, our guides knowledge was outstanding sharing history and stories about Bhutan and also personal stories about lifestyle in Bhutan. No question was ever left unanswered and no question was too much
