    3. How can I travel between Bhutan and Nepal?
    icon

Begin your journey at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu, which is Nepal's only international airport connecting it with major cities globally. Travelers might find it easier to secure flights to Kathmandu from their home country.

After visiting Nepal, fly to Paro, Bhutan. Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines operate flights between Kathmandu and Paro, providing the most efficient way to travel between the two countries. The flight time is approximately one hour and offers stunning views of the Himalayas.

In Nepal, independent travel is very much possible and common. Travelers can freely plan their trip, choose their accommodations, and move around the country without the need for a guide or a pre-arranged tour (except in restricted areas).

Bhutan, on the other hand, has a unique approach to tourism, aimed at preserving its culture and environment through its "High Value, Low Impact" tourism policy.  All international tourists (except citizens of India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives) must travel on a pre-arranged package or guided tour arranged through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator or one of their international partners.  This policy means that independent travel in Bhutan is not allowed for most international visitors.

Fantastic trip to Bhutan
I had my 6-day trip organized to Bhutan with Asia Odyssey Travel, and it was definitely one of the best trips in my life! I was so relaxed during the trip because everything was taken care of: food, transportation, tickets to attractions, hotels. Before my trip, Fox answered all my questions and made me very well prepared for Bhutan. Their customer sevice is excellent. I highly recommend to go with them, and I am already booking my next tour to Nepal next year with Asia Odyssey! Thank you for creating fantastic memories in Bhutan for me!

Fantasitic trip to unique locations.
We decided about a month before we went that we would like to go to a place we had always talked about but until now hadn't done so. After searching the internet, we found Asia Odyssey Travel and Zeva. They helped us to plan a trip called the senior tour which took us from Xining, through Lhasa Tibet onward to Nepal and finally we added Bhutan. I had always wanted to go to Bhutan once I had heard of the Gross National Happiness they sought for their people. From the beginning working with Zeva was a breeze. She helped us plan our trip and kept in touch with us throughout the journey. Asia Odyssey uses local guides for each segment of the trip that have a stake in and live in the culture they share with us. The enthusiasm the guides showed in sharing their history, special places, and unique culture was quite evident and made the experience much more enriching. There was little to no shopping stops unless you chose to do so which left more time to really immerse yourself in the places you were visiting. Zeva as well as the guides were very flexible in their approach which made planning and making the most of trip easy to accomplish. The care and concern were very evident which made for a smooth, safe and enjoyable experience. The communication was excellent and Zeva gave us the tips we needed to get our visa and Tibet travel papers. I cannot recommend their services enough.
