"From the Terracotta Warriors to Mt. Everest: A Life-changing Journey Through Xian and Tibet"

Xi'an, as the ancient capital of 13 imperial dynasties, is where it all began for China. Xian was the cradle of Chinese civilization and the heartland of the Qin dynasty and Han culture. Xi’an marked the beginning and end of the Silk Road and was a buzzing capital long before anyone knew of Beijing and its Forbidden City.

Tibet, known as the "Roof of the World", due to its high elevation and remote area, has shaped a rich and distinct culture that is deeply rooted in Buddhism and traditional Tibetan culture and it has permeated every aspect of life. Whether it’s a Tibetan granny with spinning prayer wheels, believers in a pilgrim’s prostrations, or chanting monks in prayer halls, all let your soul be touched by the devotion of pilgrims. In addition, Tibet's stunning natural beauty is a major draw for travelers.

    9. Should I worry about altitude sickness when travelling in Lhasa (Tibet)?
    icon

Due to its high altitude of over 3,650 meters, high altitude sickness can be a concern for travelers visiting Lhasa. However, don't worry - most travelers are able to adjust to the altitude and experience Lhasa without any issues.

Here are some tips to help prevent and manage altitude sickness during your Lhasa tour:

    (1) Acclimatize slowly: It's important to acclimatize gradually to the high altitude by spending a few days in Lhasa before undertaking any strenuous activities. This will give your body time to adjust to the thinner air and lower oxygen levels.

    (2) Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water and other fluids to avoid dehydration, which can worsen altitude sickness symptoms.

    (3) Avoid alcohol, tobacco, and caffeine: These substances can dehydrate you and make it more difficult for your body to acclimatize to the high altitude.

    (4) Eat light and healthy meals: Eat light, nutritious meals to help your body adjust to the high altitude and avoid heavy or greasy foods that can make you feel more sluggish.

    (5) Take medication: Medications such as acetazolamide (Diamox) can help prevent altitude sickness by increasing ventilation and reducing fluid buildup in the lungs. However, it's important to consult with a doctor before taking any medication for altitude sickness.

    (6) Rest: Take breaks and rest often during your Lhasa tour to give your body time to adjust and avoid overexertion.

This 11 days tour in Tibet is really incredible and unforgettable organized by Amy and her team. Organization of this tour has been perfect, me and my husband were very lucky to join a group with very pleasant 3 group members, it is a ideal size of a group for a good harmony. We have all really appreciate our tour guide Pusto for his deep knowledge of the Tibetan civilization and religion, his very pleasant company and his permanent smile, he is more than a tour guide like a close friend. The time has been well managed by our tour guide to avoid loss time on road and arrived at EBC in time to enjoy the incredible view of Qomolangma before the sunset, really great! Namtso lake is incredibly beautiful too, we love every minute of it there : -)
Our contact girl Amy, we are very thankful to her for her patience and efficiency to obtain our Tibet visa and train tickets in time, this made us know how important her help and support has been to us.
