We were there to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday and, on arrival at our villa, were surprised with a birthday cake, chocolates and a Happy Birthday message on the bed made from palm leaf fronds. Our over-water villa was spacious and elegant with a beautiful pool and a view across a lagoon out to sea. The villa was a fairly short stroll along the heart-shaped boardwalk from the southern end of the island, or a quick buggy ride.
Sandy beaches stretch into crystal clear water and turquoise lagoons which provide opportunities for snorkelling. The food is delicious, varied and beautifully presented, with good dining options available. We chose an all-inclusive meals and drinks package which was valid for most restaurants. I believe it was a good option as the Maldives resorts are pretty expensive. We spent our time relaxing and enjoying the location with a little indulgence. We loved the Balinese massage at the spa, and the floating breakfast was a nice experience to be had in your own pool. There are options available for those who want to experience more - this area is renowned for whale sharks. One of the most pleasing aspects of our visit was the friendliness of the staff, always greeting us with a smile and a hello regardless of their role on the island, and happily chatting to us at meal times. We'd like to thank Rateesh and Maty at Raha restaurant for their friendly chats and giving us advice about the area. It's a place we'd love to come back to.
