Central Asia Group Tour FAQs - Plan Your Group Travel Worry-free
-
1. How many travelers are there in your Central Asia Group Tours?
Our Central Asia Group Tours operate with 1-16 travelers per group. This small-group size ensures comfortable travel pace, smoother border crossings, better hotel arrangements, and more personal interaction with guides. Even if only one traveler books, the tour will still depart as scheduled. -
2. I am a solo traveler. Can I join your group tours?
Yes - solo travelers are very welcome and make up a large portion of our guests. Joining a small group is the safest, most cost-effective, and most social way to explore Central Asia. You will share transportation and guided services with the group while still enjoying your personal space. -
3. How long are your group tours? Do you offer 2-week options?
Our group tours range from 4 to 20 days, covering 1 to 5 countries. If you have around two weeks, we offer several excellent mid-length options, such as the 13-day Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Tajikistan Essential Tour, which covers Silk Road highlights without feeling rushed. -
4. Do I have to visit all five Stans, or can I choose fewer countries?
You do not need to visit all five countries unless you want to.
If you have 19–20 days, you can complete the full Five Stans Grand Tour.
If your time is limited, you can focus on 2–3 countries (such as Uzbekistan & Turkmenistan) or even join a single-country tour like Uzbekistan only.
-
5. Can you handle visas for the Central Asia Group Tours?
Yes, especially for Turkmenistan, which requires a visa.
We apply for your Letter of Invitation (LOI) in advance. With the approved LOI, you will obtain your Turkmenistan visa on arrival at the border. The visa fee and PCR test fee are paid on the spot.
For the other four countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan), many nationalities enjoy visa-free entry. If an Uzbekistan visa is required, we assist you in applying for a multiple-entry e-visa.
-
6. Is the tour pace rushed, or do we have time to relax?
Our group tours follow medium, well-balanced pace. Central Asia involves long overland distances, so some days include 3–6 hours of driving.
To improve comfort, we sometimes use flights instead of long drives, especially between major cities. When border crossings are the most efficient option, we arrange smooth overland transfers with full guide support. Comfort always comes before cost-cutting.
-
7. What is included in the tour price?
The tour price typically includes all accommodations, daily breakfasts, professional English-speaking local guides, all transportation and transfers (expect internaitonal flights coming or leaving), and entrance fees listed in the itinerary.
Flights, visas, most lunches, most dinners, and personal expenses are usually not included, except for specially arranged welcome or farewell meals mentioned in the itinerary.
-
8. When is the best time to visit Central Asia? What is the weather like?
The best time to visit Central Asia is spring (April–June) and autumn (September–early November). These seasons offer mild temperatures and excellent conditions for sightseeing and outdoor activities. Summer can be very hot in cities like Bukhara and Tashkent but is ideal for mountain areas in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Winter is cold and less suitable for multi-country travel.
You can select our stable departures from April to October for our 9 group itineraries.
-
9. What is the accommodation standard on your group tours?
In major cities, we arrange well-located 4-star hotels with private bathrooms, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi. In mountain villages and around lakes, accommodation may be in simple local guesthouses. In desert areas like the Darvaza Gas Crater, you will stay in basic yurt camps with shared facilities. Comfort is always matched to the location.
-
10. How physically demanding are the tours?
Our Central Asia Group Tours are generally moderate and suitable for most travelers with normal mobility.
Activities mainly involve city walking, light hiking in canyons or mountain parks, and some uneven terrain in old towns and desert areas. No technical trekking or extreme physical fitness is required.
-
11. What currency should I bring? Are credit cards accepted?
We recommend bringing US Dollars or Euros in clean, new bills (printed after 2013). These can be easily exchanged into local currencies.
Credit cards are accepted in major hotels and some high-end restaurants in cities like Almaty and Tashkent, but cash is essential for bazaars, rural areas, and small shops. ATMs exist in cities but can be unreliable.
-
12. Is internet access and Wi-Fi available during the tour?
Most city hotels offer free Wi-Fi, though speeds vary. We recommend buying a local SIM card with data upon arrival, and our guides will assist you. In remote mountain areas and deserts, internet access may be limited or unavailable.
