The stairs can be quite crowded, but this pathway offers the closest view of the statue and a true sense of its enormous scale. 2. By Boat: For a different perspective, consider taking a boat trip from the dock near the entrance. This provides a panoramic view of the Buddha from the river. The boat trip doesn't allow for a close-up view but offers a unique vantage point to appreciate the full size and grandeur of the statue.

6-day Chongqing-Zhangjiajie-Chengdu Tour

We booked a private tour for 5 because we prefer the customisation and flexibility. Our tour operator Isaac was very helpful and prompt in responding and we finalized the tour itinerary satisfactorily over 1-2 days. Booking the tour and meeting with the different tour guides and drivers in 3 places was seamless. Experience (food+sights) was amazing, especially in Zhangjiajie where the nature views are exactly like real life Chinese water paintings. But be prepared that the weekend attractions will be thronged by both international and domestic tourists, and the queues can be long. The sights are worth it nonetheless!
