Turkmenistan Group Tours: Small Group & LOI Support (2026)

Joining Turkmenistan group tour is the easiest and most reliable way to experience this truly adventurous destination. As an officially approved Turkmenistan travel agency, we handle your LOI (Letter of Invitation) and guide you smoothly through the visa process. Our well-designed group routes cover essentials: Ashgabat’s white-marble grandeur, Kunya-Urgench in the north, the Darvaza Gas Crater in the Karakum Desert, and Ancient Merv in the east. By sharing transport, guides, and logistics among 2-16 travelers, fixed costs are divided, making this the MOST AFFORDABLE way to travel Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan Group Tours: Real Adventure, Shared Moments

Travel with experienced Turkmen guides who bring the country to life - stories behind horse-shaped monuments, the meaning of Ruhnama, and the surreal silence of Ashgabat. Sit together by the burning Door to Hell, share food, vodka, and laughter, and cross vast deserts in one vehicle, turning strangers into companions.

Travel Beyond Turkmenistan to Central Asia Group Tours:

What to Expect Central Asia Group Tours with Asia Odyssey Travel

Turkmenistan Group Tours

English-Speaking Local Turkmen Guides at Every Step

All our Turkmenistan group tours are led by licensed, English-speaking local guides. By law, travelers holding a standard tourist visa must be accompanied by a certified guide at all times - both in Ashgabat and across the country. With AOT, you are fully supported.
Your guide brings Ashgabat’s white-marble city to life, explains the stories behind its iconic monuments, and takes you further with evening city tours for a deeper, more authentic experience. At border crossings with Uzbekistan, your Turkmen guide meets you directly, assists with paperwork, and ensures smooth entry and exit.
Turkmenistan Group Tours

Experienced Drivers & Comfortable Tourist Vehicle

Long-distance travel is essential to unlocking Turkmenistan’s vast beauty, so we prioritize your absolute comfort.
We utilize a fleet of modern, air-conditioned tourist vehicles (typically 3–5 years old), operated by seasoned local drivers who have mastered our desert highways and rugged mountain passes. Whether journeying from Ashgabat to the fiery Darvaza Gas Crater or the Uzbek border, you can relax knowing every mile will be safe, steady, and scenic.
Turkmenistan Group Tours

Approved 4-STAR Hotels & Desert Camping Experience

Foreign travelers in Turkmenistan may only stay at government-approved hotels, with every overnight stay officially registered. On Turkmenistan group tours, our guides handle all procedures.
In Ashgabat, expect impressive 4-star hotels with marble lobbies, grand décor, and crystal chandeliers. Near the Darvaza Gas Crater, accommodation shifts to desert camping or yurts, offering a rare night under the stars. Wherever you stay, comfort and compliance are ensured with AOT.
Turkmenistan Group Tours

Local Cuisine & Special Dining in Ashgabat

Enjoy authentic Turkmen and Central Asian cuisine, including lamb and beef dishes, fresh naan, plov, laghman noodles, and samsa.
Daily breakfast is included at hotels. Lunches are flexible, with picnic meals arranged in remote areas. In Ashgabat, we include a special group dinner at a featured local restaurant - good food, pleasant atmosphere, and memorable night views.

Turkmenistan/Central Asia Group Tour FAQs - Plan Your Group Travel Worry-free

Expand All
  • icon
    1. How many travelers are there in your Central Asia Group Tours?
    icon
Our Central Asia Group Tours operate with 1-16 travelers per group. This small-group size ensures comfortable travel pace, smoother border crossings, better hotel arrangements, and more personal interaction with guides. Even if only one traveler books, the tour will still depart as scheduled.
  • icon
    2. I am a solo traveler. Can I join your group tours?
    icon
Yes - solo travelers are very welcome and make up a large portion of our guests. Joining a small group is the safest, most cost-effective, and most social way to explore Central Asia. You will share transportation and guided services with the group while still enjoying your personal space.
  • icon
    3. How long are your group tours? Do you offer 2-week options?
    icon
Our group tours range from 4 to 20 days, covering 1 to 5 countries. If you have around two weeks, we offer several excellent mid-length options, such as the 13-day Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Tajikistan Essential Tour, which covers Silk Road highlights without feeling rushed.
  • icon
    4. Do I have to visit all five Stans, or can I choose fewer countries?
    icon

You do not need to visit all five countries unless you want to.

If you have 19–20 days, you can complete the full Five Stans Grand Tour.

If your time is limited, you can focus on 2–3 countries (such as Uzbekistan & Turkmenistan) or even join a single-country tour like Uzbekistan only.

  • icon
    5. Can you handle visas for the Central Asia Group Tours?
    icon

Yes, especially for Turkmenistan, which requires a visa.

We apply for your Letter of Invitation (LOI) in advance. With the approved LOI, you will obtain your Turkmenistan visa on arrival at the border. The visa fee and PCR test fee are paid on the spot.

For the other four countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan), many nationalities enjoy visa-free entry. If an Uzbekistan visa is required, we assist you in applying for a multiple-entry e-visa.

  • icon
    6. Is the tour pace rushed, or do we have time to relax?
    icon

Our group tours follow medium, well-balanced pace. Central Asia involves long overland distances, so some days include 3–6 hours of driving.

To improve comfort, we sometimes use flights instead of long drives, especially between major cities. When border crossings are the most efficient option, we arrange smooth overland transfers with full guide support. Comfort always comes before cost-cutting.

  • icon
    7. What is included in the tour price?
    icon

The tour price typically includes all accommodations, daily breakfasts, professional English-speaking local guides, all transportation and transfers (expect internaitonal flights coming or leaving), and entrance fees listed in the itinerary.

Flights, visas, most lunches, most dinners, and personal expenses are usually not included, except for specially arranged welcome or farewell meals mentioned in the itinerary.

  • icon
    8. When is the best time to visit Central Asia? What is the weather like?
    icon

The best time to visit Central Asia is spring (April–June) and autumn (September–early November). These seasons offer mild temperatures and excellent conditions for sightseeing and outdoor activities. Summer can be very hot in cities like Bukhara and Tashkent but is ideal for mountain areas in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Winter is cold and less suitable for multi-country travel.

You can select our stable departures from April to October for our 9 group itineraries.

  • icon
    9. What is the accommodation standard on your group tours?
    icon

In major cities, we arrange well-located 4-star hotels with private bathrooms, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi. In mountain villages and around lakes, accommodation may be in simple local guesthouses. In desert areas like the Darvaza Gas Crater, you will stay in basic yurt camps with shared facilities. Comfort is always matched to the location.

  • icon
    10. How physically demanding are the tours?
    icon

Our Central Asia Group Tours are generally moderate and suitable for most travelers with normal mobility.

Activities mainly involve city walking, light hiking in canyons or mountain parks, and some uneven terrain in old towns and desert areas. No technical trekking or extreme physical fitness is required.

  • icon
    11. What currency should I bring? Are credit cards accepted?
    icon

We recommend bringing US Dollars or Euros in clean, new bills (printed after 2013). These can be easily exchanged into local currencies.

Credit cards are accepted in major hotels and some high-end restaurants in cities like Almaty and Tashkent, but cash is essential for bazaars, rural areas, and small shops. ATMs exist in cities but can be unreliable.

  • icon
    12. Is internet access and Wi-Fi available during the tour?
    icon

Most city hotels offer free Wi-Fi, though speeds vary. We recommend buying a local SIM card with data upon arrival, and our guides will assist you. In remote mountain areas and deserts, internet access may be limited or unavailable.

26 Days Central Asia Tour - Long trip but worth our time
An adventure covering the '5 Stans.' Kyrgyzstan was the highlight for nature; the yurt stay at Son Kul Lake was peaceful and stunning. Uzbekistan offered the best architecture and hotels and good for night hunting. Tajikistan had incredible mountain drives, though the roads were rough. Relax by the lake is very peaceful. Kazakhstan’s Almaty felt surprisingly modern. We all like the red canyon hiking. Took great photos here. While, the border crossing took time, requiring us to walk with luggage. It’s a grueling trip with long travel days, but absolutely the best way to see the diversity of the Silk Road in one go.

Turkmenistan Tour to the Hell of the Door & Camp here
A truly surreal experience. Ashgabat is bizarre with its empty white marble streets and strict rules, but fascinating to see. The highlight was obviously the Darvaza Gas Crater. The drive across the desert was bumpy and long, but arriving at the 'Gates of Hell' at night was spectacular. Sleeping in a yurt nearby was cold but worth it for the view. Be prepared for very basic toilets in the desert, but our guide handled the logistics perfectly.

8 Days Uzbekistan Tour - Full of Domes!
Our uzbekitan tour was a magnificent dive into history. Samarkand’s Registan Square is even more breathtaking than in photos; the blue tiles are amazing. Bukhara was my favorite, though - wandering the old streets felt like time travel, and the Kalon Minaret at sunset is unforgettable. Khiva is beautiful but feels a bit like a museum. The high-speed train between cities was very comfortable and punctual. As for the is food, while delicious, gets repetitive (lots of Plov and meat) after a week
