This afternoon’s excursion features a guided tour of Fengdu Ghost City. Led by an English-speaking professional, you will explore an extensive site of temples and monasteries dedicated to the myths and legends of the Chinese underworld.
Or, you may opt for an excursion to the Shibaozhai Pagoda (Optional) at an additional cost. Situated in Zhongxian County, this 12-story wooden masterpiece is globally renowned. Ascending to its summit provides a magnificent vantage point over the Yangtze.

After breakfast, you will spend a full day to view the beautiful Three Gorges.
First, experience the majestic Three Gorges, starting with the towering cliffs and legendary Kui Gate of Qutang Gorge. Next, drift through the serene, misty beauty of Wuxia Gorge, followed by the rugged shoals and famous turbulent waters of Xiling Gorge. This afternoon, enjoy a leisurely excursion to Shennv Stream (Goddess Stream)in Wushan. After breakfast and check-out, disembark at Maoping Port to visit the Three Gorges Dam, China's largest hydropower project. Marvel at this immense 181-meter-high structure, spanning 2,335 meters across the Yangtze. You’ll have a unique opportunity to view the massive dam body and its intricate lock system firsthand before concluding your journey.
Optional experience: You can opt to pass through the Three Gorges Dam ship lift—the largest in the world—to experience the massive structure up close.
After visiting the dam, a cruise shuttle will transfer you to Yichang Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal around 12:30-13:00. From there, you'll be escorted to the airport or train station for your onward journey.
1. Check out and leave your luggage at the front desk; the cruise line will deliver it to the Three Gorges Tourist Center.
2. Visiting the Three Gorges Dam alone results in a 12:30 arrival in Yichang.
3. Adding the optional ship lift excursion changes your Yichang arrival to roughly 13:30.

In a private tour, it means you will transfer to the tourist attractions in one city by private vehicle. The private car we selected is spacious, comfortable and air-conditioned. And the driver we use are very experienced.
As for traveling between two destinations, we use domestic flights (economy seat) or high speed trains (second class seat, usually less than 6 hours). The local guides and drivers will pick you up at the airport/train stations, and escort you to the hotel.
“B” stands for breakfast. You will have it at your hotel in the morning.
“L” stands for lunch. The restaurants we will arrange for you are all designated tourist restaurants approved by local tourist administration bureau. All are in good sanitary conditions. Your guide will assist you with ordering the dishes.
“D” means dinner. All dinners are excluded in the itinerary. You have the chance to taste some authentic Chinese food and local snacks.

The Century Voyage was pure luxury! From the moment I stepped onboard, I was impressed by the attention to detail. The cabins were spacious, beautifully designed, and had amazing river views. The staff was exceptional—always helpful, professional, and fluent in English, which made communication so easy. Shoutout to Asia Odyssey Travel for suggesting this brand-new cruise — it was the perfect way to experience the Yangtze!
I loved every moment onboard the Century Voyage! The facilities are top-notch—modern, elegant, and designed for comfort. The dining experience was a highlight; the food was delicious, with both local Chinese dishes and international options. Plus, it’s all included in the price! The onboard activities were fun and engaging, from cultural performances to relaxing yoga sessions. Asia Odyssey Travel recommended this cruise, and they really nailed it. Everything felt so polished and well-organized.
We (couple, aged 56 and 61) did a four night cruise on the Victoria Katarina with Asia Odyssey Travel. Ship was very nice. Cabins pretty good - two single beds, reasonable bathroom with a good strong shower and a small bath. Nice balcony. Ship was decorated very nicely and felt spacious. Staff were amazing and multi talented. Waiters/barmen by day, entertainers by night. Were very accommodating and friendly. Be aware that you will need to climb up/down minimum of 200 steps to get to/from the ship. On arrival your large suitcase will be carried for you by amazing workers who put your case on bamboo poles across their shoulders but you will need to carry your own hand luggage. Steps are steep, not for the unfit or elderly. Scenery along the Yangtze is amazing. We enjoyed the cruise component of our tour. Food on ship was fantastic and lots of it. Drinks very reasonably priced.
We arrived here very late at night with a Asia Odyssey Travel group. The boat is very nice, but we had never done a river cruise before to compare. Certainly clean and great staff.
A great trip which I would recommend, so interesting and very different. Do be prepared for a lot of steps when getting off the boat at the various destinations. Really recommend the upgraded room as despite the standard cabin being very acceptable, was very small. Ours was the 4 night up river trip to Chongquing.
We had already booked our cruise on the Victoria Katerina and were in China when I read reviews. It was helpful to know what to expect, so I’ll do the same here. We started in Yichang, at the site of the dam. So that meant that we stayed in port the first night, toured the dam the next day, and then didn’t leave port until the second evening.
The boat was clean and the staff was nice. The food was adequate. Some in my party complained about the hard mattresses, but it didn’t bother me.
Also as mentioned, the scenery is nice and it’s a nice break from the large and sometimes hectic cities.

We recently returned from a Yangtze cruise on the new Century Glory ship. All of our arrangements were made by Vivien Li from China Discovery. We corresponded by email with Vivien. She was wonderful and gave us great advice.
The ship has only been in service for a few weeks. The crew went beyond our expectations to help us in English. The ship is very pretty. The nightly entertainment was produced by the crew members and they were very good. We enjoyed the optional tour to the ghost city.

The all-inclusive pricing was a huge plus—no surprise charges, just pure relaxation. The ship itself is stunning, with luxurious interiors and spacious cabins that felt like a high-end hotel room. We did the 4 night cruise from the Maoping dock to Chengdu from 29 March to 2 April 2024 as part of a Asia Odyssey Travel China Group tour. The ship has a capacity of about 258 passengers but on our cruise we only had around 150. The service on the boat was very good with friendly helpful staff. Meals are all buffet style with a selection of cold and hot dishes. The cabins and bathrooms were clean with all bathroom linen changed daily. The bar on deck 5 was great and the prices reasonable with happy hours and specials on cocktails. The top deck had a large area with chairs and lounge chairs, a great place to enjoy the scenery but no shade so take a hat. A fantastic cruise which we highly recommend.
