By Air:  Kunming Changshui International Airport (KMG) offers extensive direct flights across Asia, including to Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and Singapore. It also serves as a major domestic hub with frequent connections to top Chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.

By Train: Kunming’s Main and South Railway Stations provide extensive high-speed rail links. Reach Yunnan destinations like Dali (2.5h) and Lijiang (4h), or major Chinese hubs like Guangzhou (7h) and Beijing (11h).

Morning, explore the Stone Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site formed over 270 million years through marine sedimentation and crustal uplift. Discover the unique karst landforms of the Big and Small Stone Forests, while immersing yourself in Yi ethnic culture and the legend of Ashima. This natural wonder also famously served as a filming location for Journey to the West.

Then, return to Kunming to visit Yuantong Temple, a 1,200-year-old sanctuary and China’s oldest Guanyin temple. Known for its unique "downhill" design and tranquil water courtyard, it is the only site in China housing Han, Southern, and Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Don't miss the Bronze Buddha Hall, a Southeast Asian-style structure built to house a sacred statue gifted by Thailand.

Next, visit Green Lake Park (翠湖), a "green gem" just 700m from Yuantong Temple. Once a marshy bay, this Ming-era city lake features embankments inspired by Hangzhou’s West Lake. This morning, you'll take a high-speed train to Lijiang (3.5-4 hours). Upon arrival, our local team will meet you at the exit to escort you to your hotel in the Lijiang Old Town area and assist with check-in.

Nestled beneath Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Lijiang (丽江) is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the Naxi heartland. Comprising Dayan, Shuhe, and Baisha, it links Shangri-La and Dali. Visitors can admire snowy peaks, explore ancient architecture, and immerse themselves in vibrant ethnic traditions while enjoying the town's famously peaceful atmosphere.

This afternoon, explore 800-year-old Lijiang Old Town (丽江古城), a former hub on the Tea Horse Road. Wander its labyrinth of cobbled streets and ancient bridges. Optionally, visit Mu Palace (Optional), the "Forbidden City of the South," to discover Naxi royal history. Learn why the town lacks city walls before heading to a vantage point for panoramic views. Finally, visit Sifang Street to shop for handicrafts and enjoy the vibrant, music-filled atmosphere.

Later, visit Black Dragon Pond Park (黑龙潭公园) on the northern outskirts of Lijiang Old Town. This scenic spot provides iconic views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain; on a calm day, the mountain’s snow-capped reflection in the pool’s mirror-like water is spectacular.

After breakfast, head to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (玉龙雪山), a UNESCO site named for its 13 jade-like peaks. Take a scenic 10-minute cable car to Spruce Meadow (3,240m) for breathtaking views of the highest peak, Shanzidou (5,596m). Explore pristine forests and alpine meadows before descending. Next, take a sightseeing bus to Blue Moon Valley (蓝月谷), where surreal turquoise waters reflect Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. This afternoon, you can choose to watch the Impression Lijiang show this afternoon at Ganhaizi (altitude: 3,100 meters). Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Zhang Yimou, this grand one-hour open-air spectacle uses song and dance to vividly showcase the traditional culture and daily life of the Naxi people.

Afterward, visit Baisha Village (白沙村), the ancient Naxi capital and birthplace of the Mu chieftaincy. As part of Lijiang’s UNESCO heritage, it preserves the renowned Baisha Murals across temples like Dabaoji Palace. These artworks offer a rare glimpse into the region’s spiritual history, beautifully blending Buddhist, Taoist, and Naxi religious elements.

If energy permits, stop at Shuhe Ancient Town (束河古镇，Optional), a tranquil Tea Horse Road landmark. Quieter than Lijiang, its cobbled streets feature local crafts and peaceful canals. This day, depart from Lijiang to ShangriLa, exploring breathtaking natural landscapes along the way.

Your first stop is the First Bend of the Yangtze River (长江第一湾), where the river performs a dramatic 180° turn within a single kilometer. From the observation deck, you'll enjoy sweeping panoramic views of this majestic waterway as it carves through the rugged mountain landscape.

Drive to Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge (上虎跳, 1,800 meters), one of the world's deepest canyons. Legend says a hunted tiger once leapt across the roaring Jinsha River here. Flanked by the massive Jade Dragon and Haba Snow Mountains, you’ll experience nature's raw power while walking the scenic plank roads. For a more relaxed visit, an optional lift is available to skip the steeper climbs.

Afterward, continue your drive to Shangri-La (about 108 km, 2-2.5 hours).

Welcome to Shangri-La, the "real-life paradise" in Yunnan’s Diqing Prefecture. Formerly Zhongdian, this enchanting town inspired the mythical sanctuary in James Hilton’s Lost Horizon. Surrounded by majestic mountains, it offers a fairytale blend of Tibetan heritage and mysterious landscapes.

Overnight in Shangri-La.

Visit Songzanlin Monastery (松赞林寺, 3,380m), Yunnan’s largest Tibetan Buddhist complex. Founded in 1679 and modeled after Lhasa’s Potala Palace, this "Little Potala" houses 700 monks. Explore its three grand halls—Zhacang, Jikang, and Sakyamuni—to witness traditional chanting amid a fusion of Tibetan and Han architecture. The climb rewards you with a solemn atmosphere and stunning panoramic views of the sprawling monastery and the sacred Lamuyangcuo Lake.

Drive to Pudacuo National Park (普达措), China’s first national park and a "Three Parallel Rivers" highland sanctuary. Getting back to Shangri-La city, explore Dukezong Ancient Town (独克宗古城), the 1,300-year-old "Moonlight Castle" and China's largest Tibetan residential cluster. As a historic Tea Horse Road hub, it features ancient temples and alleys adorned with prayer flags. Hike Guishan Hill to spin the world's largest prayer wheel for luck while enjoying panoramic views.

Optional Night Activities:

Each evening around 19:00, join the locals at Sifang Square for traditional Tibetan dancing. By 21:00, the entire ancient town glows as the lights come on.

After the tour, be escorted to your hotel in Shangri-La.
