Important Travel Tips for Visiting Maldives

How do you choose the perfect resort in Maldives?

Cost & Budget: Depending on the price, there are different levels of quality, with the Maldives offering a range from relatively affordable accommodations to ultra-luxurious options. The most basic are a 4-star resorts, and then the categories rise to 5-star, 6-star, and 7-star levels.

Travel Purpose: Consider the purpose of your trip and who you are traveling with—friends, family, or as a couple. Understanding your travel purpose and needs will help you select the most suitable accommodation for your Maldives experience.

Location and Access: Consider how you want to travel to the resort. The resorts close to the Male International Airport have speedboat transfers, which are generally faster and cheaper. Those who are in other atolls need a transfer by seaplane or domestic flights, which are more expensive, but also allow you to enjoy impressive views from the air.

Type of Accommodation: Decide if you prefer an over-water villa or a beachfront villa. Each type offers a different experience and views. Over-water villas provide direct access to the sea and are quite private, while beachfront villas offer easy beach access and often come with private pools.

Dining Options: The Maldives resorts typically operate on one of four meal plans: BB (bed & breakfast), half board (breakfast and dinner included), full board (breakfast lunch, and dinner included), or a all-inclusive (all meals and beverages included). Consider your dining preferences and whether you'd like to explore different cuisine options within the resort.

Nature Condition and Service Ratings: Review the ratings on our Maldives page to gain insights into the quality of various aspects including snorkeling, sea views, beaches, privacy, family-friendliness, and sandbanks. Ratings range from 1 star to 5 stars, helping you understand the level of experience each resort offers in these areas.

Amenities and Services: Look for what amenities are important to you. Some resorts offer luxurious spa services, a private pools , water sports facilities, diving centers, and fitness centers. If traveling with children, check if the resort has family-friendly services like kids'clubs and family activities. View more Maldives Travel Tips >>

Great barefoot island
We went to the 1. But certainly not for the last time on Angaga Island. Everything was just right for us, from arrival, check-in/check-out, beach bungalow and the great premium water bungalow (was an upgrade ... big thanks again to the management/front desk). We had HB+ and that was perfectly enough, breakfast, then sandwiches/fries/salad as a snack, in the afternoon snack again and then dinner. Selection and quality was also very good and it had something for everyone. Drinks including cocktails had more than enough which were included in HB+. We would like to thank all the employees, especially the people at the front desk (were always available for a sweetie), the manager in the bar, the great employees in the entire dining area and also especially Rasil and also those I didn't mention by name ... couldn't remember all the names ;-) Small note. it is, fortunately, not a luxury resort but a resort which still has the Maldivian charm of former times and you don't need shoes from the 1st to the last day. As everywhere, it certainly has small flaws, which I have ignored as the benefits have outweighed. Thanks again to everyone and, if appropriate, we will see you again next year.
