Five months ago, I was amazed by the glowing reviews for Asia Odyssey Travel. Now, having just returned from our Tibet tour, I can wholeheartedly confirm every single one. They absolutely deserve their stellar reputation.

From start to finish, every detail was handled with utmost professionalism and kindness. The admin and paperwork were seamless, and our consultant, Aliny, was a tremendous help, expertly accommodating our flight delay into Lhasa due to extreme weather.

During the tour itself, the "hardware" was excellent—modern, comfortable buses and hotels. But the true highlight was the "software": the people. Our guides and drivers were not only competent and considerate but also a genuine joy to be around.

Our main guide, Daniel, was exceptional. He fostered a wonderful sense of community within our group, handled any curveballs with ease, and made us all feel truly cared for. His love for life was contagious! He’s also a gifted photographer, patiently helping us capture key moments, like the breathtaking sunset and sunrise on Mount Everest we were blessed to witness.

While Tibet's nature and architecture are stunning, it was the people—Daniel, our fellow tour members, and even the locals we met—that made this a trip of a lifetime. We were a party of 6 going on the Yangtze 3 Gorges Cruise embarking in Chongqing 1 Au 2025. When the cruise ended in Yichang on 4 Aug, 4 of us visited Furong, Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang before flying home from Changsha 9 Aug. The other 2 went from Yichang to visit Xian and Beijing. 
Aliny Tang advised, planned and organised the complete private packages for us all the way on our adventures starting way back in early July 2025. She is just so marvellous !!!

Guilin and the 4 day package. A real milestone in an incredibly intense and demanding trip. Guilin (booked through Asia Odyssey) was the strawberry on the cake, great organization, absolutely everything worked beautifully well. Johnny, our guide, such a nice, competent person. And lovely Aliny, our travel consultant at Asia Odyssey, piece of cake. She put up with me and my queries consistently, I always felt her smiling on the other side, ready to cater to all our needs and questions. Fantastic Guilin, a land of mountains and rivers, splendid night cruise, magnificent Longi rice terraces, a lifetime walk, unforgettable hiking. The landscape, the hotels, the people. The tour price with an English-speaking guide, a driver was quite reasonable and good service. Recommended agency since navigating in Beijing on own is not easy.

We are a small group of six. Our itinerary included Chongqing, the Yangtze River Cruise, Xi’an, and Beijing. The entire trip was organised by Asia Odyssey Travel, and we cannot praise them highly enough—especially Aliny Tang, who went above and beyond to make our journey a pleasurable and carefree experience.
Throughout the trip, we were looked after by efficient, English-speaking tour guides—one in each city—and driven to places of interest in very comfortable, spacious vehicles. All the tour guides were knowledgeable and accompanied us to every attraction, providing interesting facts and figures.

Here is a story that illustrates the care and attention that Aliny Tang puts into making sure everything goes smoothly. We took a high-speed train from Xi’an to Beijing and were informed that a tour guide would be waiting for us at Beijing station. If you’ve ever been inside a city train station in China, you’ll know there are multiple exits. As we approached the station, we wondered, “How on earth will we find our guide?”

To our immense surprise, as our train door opened, standing right in front of us on the platform was our guide, holding a placard with our names on it! Aliny Tang had noted our train ticket details—including our car and seat numbers—and directed the guide to the exact door we would be exiting.

We have Aliny Tang to thank for making this one of the most enjoyable trips we have ever taken.

We did a private tour of Xi’an set up by Aliny at Asia OdysseyTravel. The tour guide, Timo, was outstanding and from start to finish, everything from accommodations, transportation & touring Xi’an left an indelible impression on all of us. Timo’s in depth knowledge of the Terracotta Warriors & the other historic sites made it that much more memorable.

Both Sichuan and Tibet are provinces with natural beauty. The route G318 has been hyped up as "a must-travel journey once in your life". The expressways are well-maintained, while some off-roads are a bit bone-jarring still. Here's a summary of our experience.

Mode of transport 7 The 17-seater bus was not comfortable enough for 10; luggage had to be placed on seats.

Tourist guide in Chengdu 9 The guides for different days in Chengdu, Jane and Sissy, were helpful and knowledgeable.

Tourist guide in Tibet 4 Namsay, was a junior or poorly trained guide, lacking in PR skills and in understanding the basic duties of a tourist guide. His engagement to serve us was a blunder by the co.

Travellers not accustomed to long (4-5 hours) bus rides may be well-advised to take the high-speed train from Chengdu to Lhasa. The railways are not as likely to face trip delays (1-2 hours waiting) due to roadworks, or closure, or speed limits for buses.
