Golf at Hong Kong Golf Club (Since 1889), one of the oldest golf courses in Asia & a prestigious golfing institution with two distinct locations! Fanling’s undulating terrain and Deep Water Bay’s cliffside holes cater to both championship-level play and casual golfers, complemented by world-class amenities.
The Fanling Course (54 Holes), nestled amidst the hills of the New Territories, includes three 18-hole championship layouts: Old Course (Par 71, 6,231 yards), New Course (Par 70, 6,531 yards), and Eden Course (Par 70, 6,060 yards). The Deep Water Bay Course is a stunning coastal scenic 9-hole course (Par 28, 1,725 yards), ideal for short rounds and beginners.
Legendary players like Tiger Woods, who competed here in 2005, have graced its fairways, solidifying its status as a bucket-list destination. With tree-lined fairways, pristine greens, and a rich history, Hong Kong Golf Club is a must-play destination for enthusiasts seeking a mix of tradition, challenge, and stunning landscapes.
Why Hong Kong Golf Club (HKGC)?
1.Advantages: Ranked among Asia’s Top 10 Golf Courses by Golf Digest & one of Asia’s most prestigious golf clubs. The Fanling Golf Course was recognised at the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage. Prime location near Central Hong Kong (30 minutes) and Shenzhen (30 km). Exclusive yet accessible to members and visitors.
2.Hosted Championships: Historic venue for the Hong Kong Open (Since 1959) & Women’s Hong Kong Open. The event features elite players from the PGA, European, and Asian Tours, making it a highlight of the golfing calendar. Hold Club championships & monthly challenges.
3.Disadvantages: The club has strict membership policies, limiting access for casual players. Peak times, especially during the Hong Kong Open or weekends, can lead to crowded conditions, and advance booking is strongly recommended. Green fees are steep for non-members. Fanling's membership is highly exclusive, and guest access is limited. Green fees for non-members are substantial. Deep Water Bay, while scenic, is a shorter, more compact layout which may disappoint seasoned players. Strict dress code and etiquette enforced.
4.Facilities: Fanling boasts a grand clubhouse, pro shop, driving range, and practice areas. Deep Water Bay features a modern clubhouse with a pool, gym, and seaside terrace. Both locations maintain high standards of service. Fanling offers caddy services, golf carts, and practice facilities, while Deep Water Bay provides a more relaxed and casual atmosphere for faster rounds.
5.Feedback: “A living museum of golf - every hole at Fanling tells a story. The bunkering is ruthless!” “Impeccably maintained, but prepare for a stern test - the Old Course humbles even pros.” “Pricey for non-members, but worth it for the history and exclusivity.” “The blend of tradition and challenge is unmatched in Asia. Book early - it’s always packed!” "The club's exclusivity ensures pristine course conditions." "Fanling is a must-play for serious golfers visiting Hong Kong.” “The Hong Kong Open at Fanling is a bucket-list experience - the energy is electric, and the course conditions are phenomenal.” “Deep Water Bay’s cliffside holes are breathtaking, but don’t underestimate the wind!”

Golf at Discovery Bay Golf Club (Since 1983), one of Southeast Asia’s premier golfing destinations & Hong Kong’s Family-Friendly Golf Oasis! A private course (member-only) with challenging fairways and panoramic views of Discovery Bay and the South China Sea. Discovery Bay Golf Club is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and accessible golf within a planned community setting.
Designed by renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., Discovery Bay Golf Club offers three 9-hole courses with ocean views: Diamond Course (Par 36, 3,485 yards), Jade Course (Par 36, 3,501 yards), and Ruby Course (Par 36, 3,482 yards). These courses can be played in various combinations, creating a flexible and unique 18-hole layout every time. It is perfect for beginners, juniors, or a relaxed round.
The Diamond Course, with its dramatic elevation changes and quickly sloping greens, is regarded as the most challenging layout among the three. The Ruby Course is less difficult off the tee and has incredible views from its lofty elevations. The Jade Course, unlike the previous two, features more water and more challenging dogleg holes.
Nestled on Lantau Island, this casual gem is only 10 minutes from Hong Kong Disneyland, and 20 minutes from Hong Kong International Airport, and a 25-minute drive from the Central financial district. Ideal for travelers seeking laid-back play amid mountain and sea vistas, or families mixing golf with theme park fun.
Why Discovery Bay Golf Club?
1.Advantages: Lantau Peak and South China Sea backdrops on every hole. An escape from the busy city. Discovery Bay Golf Club is located about 20 km from Hong Kong Airport and only about 10 km from Hong Kong Disneyland, so it is very convenient for you to travel.
2.Hosted Championships: The club has hosted several prestigious local and regional tournaments, including Hong Kong Golf Association events and corporate championships. Junior golf clinics and corporate charity events; no pro tournaments due to its short layout.
3.Disadvantages: Ferry or transportation is needed to access Discovery Bay from other parts of Hong Kong. Not for pros: Par-3 only, limited to 130-yard max holes. Green Fees are relatively high compared to public courses in Hong Kong. Undulating fairways and slopes may pose challenges for less experienced players.
4.Facilities: Free shuttle buses across Discovery Bay’s car-free community. Among top amenities available are a clubhouse, Chinese and Western dining options, a driving range, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a luxurious private event room, and mahjong rooms. I’m so glad we chose to do this tour! We were looking for a way to escape the summer heat, and Hokkaido was a dream come true. The air was so fresh and the scenery was just incredible—I swear my photos don’t even do it justice.
The highlight for me was definitely the lavender fields in Furano. They were even more beautiful in person than in all the pictures you see online. Our private guide knew the best spots to get a great view without fighting the crowds. Plus, we got to see all the other rainbow flower fields in Biei which were just as amazing.
The trip was super relaxing because we didn't have to worry about a thing. Our driver was so professional, and it was a huge relief to have a private car just for our family. It made getting between all the different towns so easy. We loved exploring the charming canal in Otaru and getting to eat all the fresh seafood in Sapporo. The food in Hokkaido is seriously on another level!
