Here you’ll find the most primitive handmade bamboo rafts, with each raft carrying just two passengers. The crystal clear water is less than 2 meters deep and flows slowly. The gentle current brings a sense of calm amidst the pastoral scenery, slowing down time. Occasionally you'll pass over small dams, sending the raft sliding down rapidly, splashing water and eliciting laughter and thrilled screams.

Yulong River Bamboo Rafting Prices and Reservations

The price of bamboo rafting on Yu Long River varies depending on the selected route, typically ranging from 100 to 200 yuan per person (for one section only). You can make a reservation in advance, preferably one day ahead, through the "Yu Long River" official WeChat account or purchase tickets at the local dock. However, during peak seasons, it can be challenging to buy tickets on the same day, so it's recommended to book in advance. Duration: 1.5-2 hours

Middle Section (Old County Pier - Chaoyang Pier) - Avoid Crowds

Route: Old County - Xinglong Pier/Xinglong Village - Xiatang/Xiatang Village - Dashanmen/Jima/Chaoyang

Length: 3.6 km

Duration: 50 minutes

Price: ¥200 / 2 pax

Highlights: The middle section can start from either Xinglong Pier or Xiatang Village Pier, with similar pricing and duration. This section has a more leisurely pace and fewer crowds, very peaceful. The quaint tranquility of Xiatang Village and Xinglong Village are highlights along the journey.

Third Section (Jima/Chaoyang - Wanjing/Gongnong Bridge) – Popular

Route: Jima/Chaoyang - Shuiedi - Wanjing

Essential Tips for a Safe Bamboo Rafting Journey

Yulong River Hiking & Recommended Routes

From there, you will hike along both banks of the river, passing through highlights such as Fuli Bridge, Yulong Bridge, Xiangu Bridge, rustic villages, and even Tang Dynasty relics before concluding your hike at Gongnong Bridge. The duration of the hike and the total distance will vary depending on whether you choose the eastern or western bank route. The eastern and western bank routes cover approximately 15 to 20 kilometers and typically take around 4 to 8 hours to complete.

Hiking Route 1: Baisha Town - Yulong Bridge - Yulong River (Eastern Bank) - Jiuxian - Aishanmen Village - Xiatangzhai - Yangshuo Shengdi Hotel - Gongnong Bridge.

Hiking Route 2: Baisha Town - Yulong Bridge - Yulong River (Western Bank) - Xiniutang Village - Chuanshandi Village - Dashizhai Village - Zhutoushan Village - Qilashu Village - Chuanyan Village - Darongshu - Gongnong Bridge.

How to plan a Yulong River Tour & Trip

The most popular sections for bamboo rafting are typically from Jinlong Bridge to Jiuxian (Old County) or from Chaoyang to Gongnong Bridge.

Bamboo rafting experience: Begin the bamboo rafting adventure from your chosen dock and enjoy the unique experience. It is recommended to select the 90-minute section between Jinlong Bridge and Jiuxian or Chaoyang and Gongnong Bridge.

Continue exploring by bicycle or Foots: After completing the bamboo rafting, you can continue your exploration of Yulong River by cycling to other attractions such as Moon Hill and the Great Banyan Tree. Getting to Yulong River: Transportation Guide

By Bicycle:

You can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Yangshuo and embark on a scenic ride to Yulong River. The distance between Yangshuo and Yulong River is approximately 5 kilometers, and the journey takes around 30 minutes, depending on your cycling speed and route.

By Taxi or Didi (Ride-hailing Service):

If you prefer a more convenient option, you can take a taxi or use the Didi ride-hailing service from Yangshuo to Yulong River. Taxis are readily available in Yangshuo, and the ride to Yulong River typically takes around 15 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

By Local Bus:

Another option is to take a local bus from Yangshuo to Yulong River. There are regular bus services operating between these two locations. You can inquire at the Yangshuo Bus Station or ask for assistance from the locals to find the appropriate bus route. The bus journey takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
