Day 1 Guiyang - Huangguoshu Waterfall | Doupotang, Tianxingqiao, Huangguoshu Waterfall (Sightseeing Bus, Round-trip escalator)

Welcome to Cool Guiyang! Upon arrival, our local staff will pick you up from airport.

Guiyang Arrival Ideas: Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport (KWE) is the main airport. It offers direct flights to major Chinese hubs like Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Wuhan, and Xiamen, as well as international routes to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.

Then, drive 2.5 hours to Huangguoshu Waterfall, the largest waterfall in China and Asia. You will hear the roaring water a kilometer away, and admire the waterfall's dynamic views!

Back in the 17th century, the famous Chinese geographer and "pre-internet celebrity" Xu Xiake traveled to this site. His travelogue boosted the waterfall's reputation nationwide. Follow the same popular path he took:

Visit Doupotang Scenic Area (陡坡塘), a 105-meter-wide marvel nicknamed "Roaring Waterfall" for its thunderous wet-season flow. As a famous filming site for Journey to the West, it invites fans of the classic novel to recreate iconic scenes from the pilgrims' journey. Capture your own adventurous photos at this legendary location!

Next, explore the diverse Tianxingqiao Scenic Area (天星桥). With its interwoven stone forests and caves, every angle offers a fresh view for your photos. Be sure to see the Silver Chain Dropping Pool Waterfall (银链坠潭瀑布), where multiple streams dance across the rocks and gather into a shimmering pool—a truly unique natural spectacle.

Afterward, board a sightseeing bus to the magnificent Huangguoshu Waterfall (黄果树瀑布). Standing 77.8 meters high and 101 meters wide, this landmark features 18 distinct waterfalls that appear to fold into four beautiful layers. During summer floods, the volume cascades into a 17-meter-deep pool with enough force to fill 1296 swimming pools hourly.

Venture into the 134-meter-long narrow Water Curtain Cave (水帘洞) for a rare, close-up encounter before taking the escalator back to the main area.

i Note
Please send your travel dates one week in advance to ensure we can reserve your entry to the Water Curtain Cave.

Transfer to your hotel in Huangguoshu.

Day 2 Huangguaoshu - Bridges - Xingyi | Baling River Bridge (Bridge Walk, Guizhou Bridge Technology Museum), Huajiang Canyon Bridge (Sightseeing Bus, Escalator, Cloud Cafe)

After breakfast, drive 30 minutes from Huangguoshu to Baling River Bridge.

Baling River Bridge (坝陵河大桥) is the icon of Guizhou’s "Bridge Museum." This 2,237-meter engineering marvel is a Luban Award winner spanning the Balinghe Canyon. Its red steel contrasts with the green valley. First, visit the Guizhou Bridge Technology Museum at its base. Then take escalator to walk inside the massive structure. Peer through steel grating 370 meters above the river. (Optional: brave the world’s highest commercial bungee).

In the afternoon, drive 1.5 hours to Huajiang Canyon Bridge (花江峡谷大桥), the world’s highest bridge, soaring 625 meters—equal to 200 stories! Spanning the dramatic "Earth's Crack," it offers stunning views of the deep, rugged canyon. Take the sightseeing bus and elevator to the glass walkway. Experience a unique sense of space, then relax at the Cloud Café. Sip coffee while peering through transparent glass into the emerald river 600 meters below.

After the bridge tour, drive about 3 hours to Xingyi for hotel check-in.

Day 3 Xingyi Tour | Wanfenglin (West Peak Forest, Sightseeing Bus), Wanfeng Lake

Today, have a Wanfeng nature tour.

First, visit Wanfenglin (Forest of Ten Thousand Peaks, 万峰林), one of China's most stunning peak forests. As traveler Xu Xiake noted, "Only here do peaks form a forest." This karst masterpiece blends ten thousand peaks with Buyi ethnic villages.

The highlight is the West Peak Forest, where a sightseeing bus winds along the mountainside. Marvel at the Eight Trigrams Field, a natural sinkhole wonder, and , and iconic landmarks like General Peak, Liuliu Dashun Peak, and Dashun Peak.

Second, take a cruise on Wanfeng Lake (万峰湖), southwest China's largest man-made lake. You can admire emerald waters submerging a thousand karst peaks, turning them into mystical islands.

Discover this "sea of mountains" through two unique ways: Choose a boat cruise to witness the iconic Jilong Castle standing lonely on its isle, or take a paddleboard to glide into silent, narrow fjords. Whether cruising or drifting, it is a deep dive into Guizhou’s serene karst beauty.

Stay overnight in Xingyi.

Expert Advice and Ideas for Extending Your Guizhou Trip

Guizhou Trip Prep: 3-Minute Q&A
Getting There & Around+

Guiyang, Guizhou's provincial city, is your main hub for flights and trains. Attractions are spread out, so driving is often the best way to explore Guizhou's remote natural sites and ethnic villages.

Best Time to Visit Guizhou+

Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September-October) are ideal. Avoid Chinese New Year, May Day (May 1-5), and National Day Holiday (October 1-7) due to crowds.

Respect Ethnic Culture+

They are welcoming, but it's better to ask about village traditions before entering homes (e.g., don't step on doorsteps, enter inner rooms only if invited).

If offered "Lanmen Wine (拦门酒)," a small sip shows thanks if you can't finish it; accepting the cup by hand usually means you'll drink it all.

Other Packing & Travel Tips+

1. Weather & Sun: Guizhou's weather is changeable, so carry a dual-purpose umbrella and more types of clothes. Always apply sunscreen due to strong UV radiation from the plateau terrain.

2. Guizhou Cuisine: Known for its spicy and sour flavors and strong aromas, like Sour Soup Fish. Your guide can help you find suitable restaurants if you're not used to the local cuisine.

Where to Stay in Guizhou: Handpicked Hotel Options

Accommodation standards in Guizhou may not be as developed as those in major cities like Beijing or Shanghai. We recommend choosing 4-star standard hotels or above for better comfort and service.

Guiyang offers the widest selection of international and domestic hotel chains. Other major cities like Anshun, Libo, and Tongren offer decent hotel options, though international brands are limited.

In the Qiandongnan ethnic minority region (Kaili, Xijiang, Congjiang, Rongjiang, Zhaoxing, Zhenyuan), accommodations primarily consist of boutique guesthouses and some mid-range hotels. For Jiabang Terraces, mountain inns are available.

Please note that hotels may not offer Western breakfast or English service, but our guides will assist with language at check-in/out to ensure a smooth and pleasant stay in Guizhou.
