Our biking trip offers two captivating routes. The first route invites you to cycle along the banks of the Huangpu River, offering a truly unique and unforgettable experience. This journey allows you to forge a connection with Shanghai's past, present, and future while savoring the beauty of its riverfront. Day 1 Shanghai Biking Tour | Modern Shanghai Skyscrapers or Historical Shanghai

Our biking exploration tour lasts about 2-4 hours, and you have a choice between two themes. (1) Route A: This route focuses on modern Shanghai, showcasing its skyscrapers and the architectural marvels of the Bund, allowing you to witness China's rapid development. (2) Route B: This route focuses on the exploration of garden mansions in the Sinan Road area, showcasing various Western-style designs and offering insights into Shanghai's Longtang life during the early 20th century.

Option Biking Route A: Huangpu Riverside Greenway Modern Shanghai Tour (2-3 hours)

Distance: 23 KM, about 2-3 hours

Scenic Spots You will Pass: South Wall (near Sanlin Road Ferry Pier) → Qiantan Park → Xiwang Media Port (distant view) → Houtan Park → Expo Park → Shiliupu Wharf/Old Wharf (distant view) → Riverside Residential Area → the Bund Architectural Complex (distant view) → Oriental Pearl Tower/Lujiazui Skyscrapers → 1862 Old Shipyard → North Bund Riverside (distant view) → North Wall (near Xiepu Road Ferry Pier)

Your biking trip will start from Xupu Bridge (徐浦大桥), where you will encounter both uphill and downhill sections. After passing Qiantan Park (前滩公园), you will reach the most beautiful stretch of riverside, characterized by a smooth and flat path without slopes. As you continue, prepare for an exhilarating experience as you witness the towering skyscrapers ahead.

One of the most striking sights in Pudong is the trio of towering skyscrapers located in the Lujiazui financial district: Shanghai Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, and Jin Mao Tower. Among them, the Shanghai Tower stands as the tallest building in Shanghai, soaring up to 632 meters. Its unique feature is a breathtaking 120-degree twist from its base to its peak. Take your time to ascend the Shanghai Tower and enjoy the unparalleled panoramic view it offers.

As you continue your ride, savor the opportunity to admire the Bund Architectural Complex (外滩建筑群). This collection of historic buildings showcases a variety of architectural styles. Take in the grandeur of these structures as you pedal along. Finally, your trip will conclude at the North Wall near Yangpu Bridge (杨浦大桥). Reflect on the memorable journey you've had, filled with scenic landscapes, impressive skyscrapers, and the rich historical heritage of Shanghai's architectural marvels.

Biking Tips: Every kilometer along the Greenway, there is a service station which has public toilets but also provide a range of convenient services including public lounges, drinking water stations, charging facilities, emergency AED equipment, and vending machines. It truly makes things incredibly convenient for those who are engaged in biking/sports activities.

Option Biking Route B: Shanghai Exotic and Shikumen Architecture & Lifestyle Tour (4 hours)

Distance: 10 KM, about 4 hours

Scenic Spots You will Pass: Xintiandi → Zizhong Road → Madang Road → Sinan Road → Xiangshan Road → Jianguo Road → Fuxing Road → Taikang Road

This biking route begins at Xintiandi (新天地), a vibrant area that artfully combines Shikumen architecture with modern urban fashion. Ride along Zizhong Road (自忠路), adorned with plane trees and buildings showcasing red exteriors. Continue to the serene Madang Road (马当路), where you'll sense a profound history intertwined with fashionable innovation.

Next, make your way to Sinan Road (思南路) and explore the renowned Sinan Mansions (思南公馆), often referred to as the "Open-air Old Western-style House Museum." This collection of 51 historically significant garden villas showcases a diverse range of architectural styles and represents modern living in Shanghai. Take a leisurely stroll through Fuxing Park (复兴公园), an impeccably preserved French-style garden featuring meticulously crafted vintage rose gardens.

Continue your ride along Xiangshan Road (香山路) and Fuxing Road (复兴路), eventually arriving at Taikang Road (泰康路) for a glimpse of Tianzifang (田子坊). This authentic Shanghai-style lane exudes a bourgeois atmosphere and offers narrow alleyways, cozy bars, cafes, rooftop restaurants, artist studios, and an array of creative boutiques. Tianzifang captures the essence of old Shanghai, and its traditional shops offer vintage pocket watches, qipao dresses, paper fans, snowflake cream, and more. It's the perfect place to immerse yourself in the unique charm of Shanghai's old alleyways.

Essential Weekend Retreat to the Goddess of Mercy's Island
As a wellness traveler from the UK, I was looking for a short, meaningful trip away from city noise. This 4-day Hangzhou-Putuoshan route was exactly what I needed.

The logistics, which can be tricky when traveling to an island like Putuoshan, were handled flawlessly. Our private transfer from Hangzhou to the pier and the quick ferry crossing felt incredibly seamless. It turned a potentially stressful multi-step journey into a true retreat.

The two days on Putuoshan were the highlight. Standing before the enormous Guanyin statue felt truly profound. I especially enjoyed the quiet climb to Huiji Temple on the summit and the meditative walk down the steps. It felt like shedding the worries of the city with every step.

The balance of the trip—starting with the classical canals and tea fields of Hangzhou and transitioning to the spiritual depth of the island—was perfectly paced. Highly recommend this for anyone seeking both scenic beauty and spiritual clarity.

A Spiritual Journey to Putuoshan — Truly Unforgettable
I just returned from the “Putuoshan Tour from Shanghai” with Asia Odyssey Travel, and as a traveler from Malaysia, it exceeded all my expectations!
From the moment I arrived in Shanghai, the whole experience was exceptionally well-organized. Our guide was knowledgeable and made us feel welcomed right away. The drive to Putuoshan was smooth, and taking the ferry added a fun touch to the journey.
Some of the highlights for me:
Visiting Puji Temple: The peaceful atmosphere and the stunning architecture allowed me to truly reflect and connect with my spiritual side.
Walking along Bai Bu Beach: The serene beach was a perfect spot to unwind and appreciate nature's beauty.
The Goddess of Mercy Statue: Standing before the statue was awe-inspiring; it felt like I was part of something larger.
Hiking to Huiji Temple: The views from the top were breathtaking! It was worth every step of the climb.
Delicious Local Cuisine: I enjoyed trying fresh seafood dishes in the local restaurants, which were absolutely delightful.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone seeking a blend of spirituality and nature!
