Day 1 Shanghai - Zhujiajiao - Shanghai | Zhujiajiao Water Town, 1000 Trees Shanghai, The Bund

After breakfast, meet your guide in the hotel lobby and leave bustling Shanghai for Zhujiajiao Water Town (48 kilometers away).

Known as "Shanghai's Venice," the 1,700-year-old Zhujiajiao is the region's most well-preserved water town. It embodies the classic Jiangnan aesthetic with its ancient bridges and winding canals. Listed among China's top 50 must-visit destinations, This historic town remains beautifully preserved, featuring traditional houses and relics.

Wander with your guide through historic lanes to admire Ming and Qing architecture and local handicrafts on North Street. Navigate a network of 36 stone bridges, including the magnificent Fangsheng Bridge.

Explore the exquisite Kezhi Garden and conclude at the Helong Art Museum, showcasing a premier collection of Haipai (Shanghai-style) art in this timeless water town.

Optional Scenic Rowing Boat Ride: A scenic rowing boat ride is essential here. Glide past historic bridges and traditional houses, capturing perfect photos of the town from a unique waterborne perspective.

Back to Shanghai city, head to 1000 trees. Known as Shanghai's Hanging Gardens of Babylon, it was named by TIME as one of the world's must-visit landmarks. Its mountain-like facade features over 1,000 lush plants cascading across tiered terraces. Start with a panoramic view from Changhua Road Bridge. Inside, discover a vibrant hub of art installations, pop-up galleries, and trendy brands. (Optional: Families can enjoy the Mini Mars Nature Park.)

Then, drive to The Bund, Shanghai’s top landmark. Admire 52 historic skyscrapers known as the “Exhibition of International Buildings,” reflecting its 1930s glory while offering the best views of Lujiazui’s modern skyline.

Your One Day Shanghai Tour concludes with a guided transfer to the airport or station. Thank you for traveling with Asia Odyssey Travel—we look forward to hosting your future journeys in Asia.
