Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a masterpiece of Tang Dynasty architecture. In the morning, experience the military might of the Qin Dynasty at the Terracotta Army Museum. Witness a lifelike silent army of 8,000 soldiers and war horses standing in meticulous battle formation. Your expert guide will reveal the individualized features of each warrior, from their elaborate hairstyles to their realistic expressions, as you explore Pit 1, Pit 2, and Pit 3.
Next, engage with history by hand-crafting a clay soldier (Optional) under the expert instruction of a local potter. You will learn the step-by-step process of ancient production and the cultural significance of Qin ceramics. Leaving with your own handmade creation, you will be truly inspired by the ingenious craftsmanship of China’s first empire.
Then, turn to Calligraphy experience. Xi'an is the heart of China’s thousand-year art of calligraphy. You will use a soft brush to write Chinese characters. Because of tiny differences in how you press, pause, and lift the brush, you will create endless variations in ink shade, texture, and line thickness. This "uniqueness" makes writing a personal expression of your emotions. Writing a character is just like painting a picture.

Option 1: Xian Ancient City Wall
Step onto the Xi'an City Wall, a massive Ming Dynasty fortification. As the only unbroken ancient circuit in China, it offers a rare opportunity to look down upon the historic inner city on one side and the modern skyline on the other. A scenic bike ride (Optional) across its wide stone path is the best way to experience this 600-year-old landmark.
Option 2: Bell & Drum Tower Square and Muslim Quarter
Or, explore the local life around the bustling and lively Muslim Quarter (Muslim Street). The Muslim Quarter, over 1,000 years old, is located just behind the Drum Tower, about 430 meters west of the Bell Tower in downtown Xian.
The Bell Tower and Drum Tower in the evening light are breathtaking sights to behold. Both ancient structures that date back to the Ming Dynasty (600 years ago) are beautifully illuminated, providing the perfect backdrop for capturing amazing Xian landmark photos.
Near the Muslim Quarter, experience UNESCO-recognized shadow or marionette plays. Discover the 2,000-year-old romantic history of shadow puppetry or marvel at the intricate mechanics of traditional marionettes, the "Lego performances" of ancient China.

I just came back from the 30-Day China Panorama Tour from Guangzhou with Asia Odyssey Travel, and it was truly one of the most memorable trips I’ve ever joined.
From the moment I landed in Guangzhou, everything was well-coordinated. The local guide greeted us at the airport and made us feel welcome right away. We started with classic Cantonese highlights like the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, Lychee Bay, and traditional dim sum — a great introduction to southern China’s culture.
The route that followed was impressive. We cruised along the Li River in Guilin, cycled through Yangshuo’s peaceful countryside, and admired the Longji Rice Terraces. In Yunnan, Dali and Lijiang’s old towns were full of character, with snow-capped mountains in the distance. Chengdu was all about pandas and Sichuan food, Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong looked like scenes from a painting, and Chongqing’s mountain city views were unforgettable. The trip ended with Beijing’s Great Wall and Forbidden City, and Shanghai’s skyline — the perfect contrast of history and modern life.
Everything ran smoothly throughout. The guides were professional and friendly, the hotels were clean and comfortable, and transportation was efficient. This tour was incredible. We were skeptical about combining Vietnam's slow-paced beauty with China's massive scale, but the contrast was brilliant. Ho Chi Minh City to Shanghai's towering skyline felt like a time warp! Seeing history at the Forbidden City and the Terracotta Warriors was profoundly moving, while the natural grandeur of the Zhangjiajie mountains was simply unforgettable. The flights and rail connections were perfectly organized, easing any stress for our older family members. Truly an epic expedition guided by real experts.
Seriously the best month of our gap year. We called it the "banana route" because of the way we traveled from the chaos and charm of Vietnam right into the futurism of Shanghai and then into the refined order of Japan (Nara's deer were everything!). The planning done by the team was flawless. We got to see three totally distinct worlds: the temples of Hanoi, the Great Wall of China, and the shrines of Kyoto. All without worrying about Visas or logistics. We want a huge, eye-opening adventure, this is the one.
Our agent Chia is simply the best! She was in contact with us every step of the way from the time we committed to the Beijing - Xian - Chengdu - Lhasa - Shanghai tour. There was absolutely no stress with the entire tour ie. Pick ups, train/ plane tickets, payments. Each time Chia was able to answer any questions that we had almost immediately. The tour itself was great, met some really nice people from different parts of the world. Groups were a maximum of 12 so the guides were always very attentive - in Tibet, we only had 3 left in the group. We have travelled quite extensively but this is the first time we have engaged in a tour and it certainly did not disappoint. Highly recommended!
We have gone to China for an exciting 17-day travel covering 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, something for a lifetime. Trip was a personalized and was well planned, coordinated and executed by Catherine Wang. We were truly amazed by her patience for nearly 2 months to communicate with us, answering our queries and plan this whole trip.
As for the trip, it went well with the pick-up in Beijing and reorganizing the Beijing sites visit when there was the 80 years celebration parade in Tiananmen square. Perfectly done and start with a bang.
We have travelled in places like Xi'an, Zhangjiajie, Chengdu, Dazu-Chongquing, Three Gorges Cruise, Yichang and finally end up in Shanghai. Every place was magnificent specially those we visited.
In every place we have the comfort due to knowledgeable guides and efficient drivers. They played a fantastic role in the whole 17 days of our trip in China.
Our heartfelt regards to tour organizer Catherine Wang for managing such a fantastic tour of a lifetime. We will definitely pursue more visits in the coming years.
