What is the best way to travel from Hong Kong to Guilin?
The High-Speed Trains are the most efficient and popular choice, taking ~ 3 to
3.5 hours. Around three daily direct trains run from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Guilin
West Station.
Why rail? It's more punctual than flights and offers more legroom. Direct flights
are rare (about twice weekly) and take ~ 1.5 hours, but require additional time for airport security and
boarding.
Do I need a visa for Guilin tours from Hong Kong?
For Hong Kong Residents: No visa required. You'll need a Mainland Travel Permit for
Hong Kong and Macao Residents (commonly known as the "Home Return Permit" / 回乡证).
For International Tourists: As of 2026, many nationalities (including many European, Asian,
and Oceania countries) benefit from China’s visa-free entry policy for stays of up to 15 or 30 days.
- If you are visa-free, you only need your valid passport.
- If you require a visa, Asia Odyssey Travel provides official Invitation Letters to support your tourist
visa application.
Note: Always check the latest 2026 regulations based on your specific nationality before
booking.
