    3. What is the best time of year to travel to North India?
    icon

The best time to visit India is between October and March, when the weather is more likely to be warm, sunny, and dry. During this time, the north offers clear blue skies. However, December and January are much cooler, with potential fog, while the higher Himalaya can be very cold, but with clearer mountain views.

Here's a breakdown of the seasons:

    • Winter (October to March): This is generally considered the peak tourist season for most of North India. The weather is pleasant and dry, with warm days and cool nights. It's an ideal time to visit places like Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Varanasi, and Khajuraho. However, it can get quite chilly in the Himalayas during this time.
    • Summer (April to June):The temperatures soar during this time, especially in the plains of North India. It can be uncomfortable for sightseeing, especially for those not accustomed to the heat. However, the hill stations like Shimla, Dalhousie, and Mussoorie offer respite from the heat.
    • Monsoon (July to September): The monsoon brings much-needed rain to the region. While some areas like Ladakh become accessible only during this time, heavy rainfall can disrupt travel plans in other places. It's best to avoid the Himalayas during this season due to landslides.

    5. Which is more beautiful north or south India?
    icon

It's tough to say definitively which is more beautiful, North or South India, because beauty is subjective and depends on your preferences. North India has more splendid palaces, temples, and forts with an imperial style and noble temperament. Conversely, south India is located in low latitudes and embraced by the sea. The tropical landscapes and beaches are its highlights. Architecture in the south is more colonial because of its colonial history.

Here's a breakdown of the highlights of each region to help you decide which might be more appealing to you:

    North India:
Grand historical monuments: The Taj Mahal, forts, palaces (Agra Fort, Jaipur City Palace)
Spiritual significance: Varanasi, Rishikesh on the Ganges River
    Diverse landscapes: Himalayas, Thar Desert
Vibrant culture: Bustling cities, colorful festivals

    South India:
Relaxing beaches: Kerala backwaters, Goa coastline
Lush greenery: Hill stations, tea plantations, spice plantations
Dravidian architecture: Temple architecture with towering gopurams
Unique cultures: Diverse traditions, laid-back atmosphere

Here are some additional factors to consider:
Weather: North India has cooler winters but hotter summers. South India is mostly tropical with high humidity.
Cuisine: North India is known for richer curries and tandoori dishes. South India features lighter fare with rice, lentils, and coconut.
Activities: North India offers historical exploration and adventure activities in the Himalayas. South India is ideal for relaxation, Ayurveda treatments, and enjoying nature.

Ultimately, the best way to decide is to research specific destinations within North and South India that appeal to you and create an itinerary that suits your interests.

Incredible India, Bhutan and Nepal trip
Absolutely amazing three week trip to India, Bhutan and Nepal. Thank you so much Rita for all your help and support, not only in planning the trip but especially in making sure everything was going according to plan while I was away. A small issue with my Bhutan visa which was completely my own fault due to changing my passport last minute was dealt with so smoothly and efficiently that I was so glad I decided to go through Asia Odyssey in planning my trip. It took all the worry out of the process. Great value for money and amazing guides and drivers throughout the trip made the whole experience a dream. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will definitely use again in the future

A tour of amazing landscapes, religions and traditions
Tibet-Nepal-India We went on a 26 days tour organized by Mr. Isaac, who was a very efficient adviser suggesting the places to see in each country we visited. Mr. Isaac was very helpful with the process to get the Chinese visa and especially with the procedure to obtain the permit to enter Tibet. In Tibet we had an excellent tour guide, Mr. Lobsan, very professional, who spoke great English and accompanied us in Lhasa for a city tour and monasteries and also to the visit to the Everest base camp from the Tibet side. It was a wonderful experience to see the sunset from this place. In Nepal, we also had very good English-speaking tour guides. Mr. Ragun in Kathmandu, very knowledgeable of the city as well as of Buddhism, and in Pokhara Mr. Krisna gave us a very good tour of the city, the caves, and experience a nice mountain view of the sunrise. In India we had a private tour organized by Mr. Isaac to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Pushkar, Jodhpur and Udaipur. All this time we were with Mr. Man Mohan Singh, an excellent driver, very professional and knowledgeable of all the places. Overall, we were very happy with the professional assistance of Mr. Isaac who was all the time ready to answer our questions. We highly recommend Odyssey Travel.
