This map points out the key travel hubs for Hohhot. This one is really useful because it shows you where the main airports and train stations are in and around Hohhot. Knowing this helps you plan how you'll get into the city and how you'll leave.

Airport: Hohhot Baita International Airport (HET)

Look on the map, and you'll usually find this airport located a bit outside the main city center, often to the east or northeast. This is the primary airport serving Hohhot. 14.5 km east of downtown.  Taxi (¥15-20, 15 mins) or Airport Bus Line 1 (¥3, 40 mins).

Train Stations

Hohhot Railway Station: This is the older, more traditional train station. You'll usually find it marked closer to, or within, the main city area. It serves many regular train lines connecting to various parts of China, and some high-speed trains might also use this station. Its central location can be convenient if your accommodation is in the downtown area.

Hohhot East Railway Station: 8 km northeast of downtown (near Exit 3 of Metro Line 1). This is a newer and often larger station. It's typically located further to the east of the city center. This station is primarily used for high-speed bullet trains.

Navigating Hohhot is simple with just two main lines. I have highlighted the key stops you need to know on this map:

Line 1 (Red): This is your arrival line. It directly connects Baita International Airport and Hohhot East Railway Station (High-Speed) to the city center.

Line 2 (Blue): Connects north to south, including the old Hohhot Railway Station.

Dazhao Temple: There is no metro station right outside the temple. The best strategy is to take Line 1 to the city center (Xinhua Square area), and then take a quick, cheap taxi to the Old Town.
