In the morning, drive to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, home to the world’s largest captive panda population. Observe giant pandas of all ages playing and eating, and look for newborn cubs in the nurseries during autumn. Don't miss the charming red pandas and the Panda Museum to uncover fascinating insights into these beloved creatures.
Note: Since pandas prefer cooler temperatures, we recommend an early arrival when they are most active. During the heat of the day, they typically move indoors to rest and sleep.
Spend the afternoon exploring the Sanxingdui Site Museum, a premier archaeological marvel showcasing a 3,000 to 5,000-year-old civilization. Encounter world-class treasures like the towering Bronze Sacred Tree, the enigmatic Vertical-eyed Mask, and the Gold Scepter. These bronze, jade, and gold relics offer a fascinating window into the ancient Shu Kingdom's sophisticated artistry.
Afterward, return to downtown Chengdu for a relaxing stroll through Jinli Old Street. With over 1,800 years of history, this stone-paved lane vividly showcases the ancient culture of the Shu Kingdom. Enjoy exploring a vibrant atmosphere filled with authentic local snacks, traditional handicrafts, and engaging folk performances.
Plan B: Chengdu Downtown City Tour (No Sanxingdui Museum)
Please note that Sanxingdui Museum tickets can be difficult to secure during peak season. If tickets are unavailable, your itinerary will be adjusted to include a comprehensive Chengdu city tour instead.
The updated itinerary includes: Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding → Chengdu Museum → Kuanzhai Alley → Renmin Park.
