Day 2 Chongqing Noon Start & Night Tour | Liziba Metro, Kuixing Building, Jiefangbei, Hot Pot Dinner, Hongya Cave, Qiansimen Bridge
Discover 8D Chongqing through Liziba, Kuixing Building. Enjoy night view at Hongya Cave and Qiansimen Bridge. (B+D)

Beginning at midday, proceed to the Liziba Metro Station (李子坝) to witness an extraordinary feat of urban engineering: the monorail passing directly through a residential apartment building. This surreal spectacle has earned Line 2 international acclaim. You can photograph this visionary urban landscape from the dedicated viewing platform.

Continue to the Kuixing Building (魁星楼), a Qing Dynasty scholar site turned 8D cyberpunk landmark. This architectural marvel defies logic, placing a busy plaza 22 stories above the street. Peer into the dizzying courtyard while standing eye-level with the mid-sections of neighboring skyscrapers.

Later, go to Jiefangbei (解放碑). It is a 27.5-meter tower built in 1940 to show Chongqing’s spirit during World War II. The bottom of the tower has a time capsule with old papers and stamps inside. It is a great spot to take a beautiful photo and say "Hello Chongqing!

After that, savor an authentic hot pot dinner with the group.

Next, we will visit Hongya Cave (洪崖洞), an exquisite complex of traditional stilted houses built into the cliffs along the Jialing River. Famous for its vibrant energy and classic wooden architecture, it offers a scenic riverside walk with a striking contrast to the modern city skyline.

When it gets dark, the cliffside lights up beautifully. You can walk on the red Qiansimen Bridge (千厮门大桥) to see the famous view. It is the best place to take photos of the bright buildings from above.

After the tour, back to your hotel in Chongqing downtown area.

Day 3 Chongqing - Wulong - Chongqing | Three Natural Bridges (Sightseeing Bus & Elevator Included), Glass Observation Deck
Get to Wulong by vehicle from Chongqing city, visit Three Natural Bridges. (B, L)

Today, we’ll take a 2.5-hour drive to explore the Wulong Karst National Geological Park. It’s a protected UNESCO site famous for its Three Natural Bridges (天生三桥). You’ll see massive stone arches named Tianlong, Qinglong, and Heilong that create incredible views. If they look familiar, it’s because this stunning location was used in the movie Transformers: Age of Extinction!

When you arrive, go to the glass observation deck. You can see a beautiful view from 280 meters high. Then, take a sightseeing elevator down into the deep canyon. On the walking trail, you will find:

  • Tianlong Bridge (Heavenly Dragon): This is the biggest and grandest bridge, looking like a giant stone entrance made by nature.
  • Tianfu Official Post: Down in the valley, you’ll find this beautiful old courtyard. It looks like something from the Tang Dynasty and was used as a hotel for officials hundreds of years ago.
  • Qinglong Bridge (Azure Dragon): This is the best place for photos! Its elegant shape looks amazing against the bright green trees and cliffs.
  • Heilong Bridge (Black Dragon): The quietest spot of all. It feels peaceful and a bit mysterious with a gentle stream running underneath it.

Note:

  • Shoes: Wear comfortable hiking shoes for steep stairs and rough ground.
  • Supplies: Bring water and snacks for the trail.
  • Photos: Use a wide-angle lens for the view and waterproof protection near waterfalls.
  • Weather: The gorge is cool and damp. Bring layers and a light rain jacket.

Stay overnight in downtown Chongqing.

Day 5 Zhangjiajie Tour | Bailong Elevator, Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain
Have a nice exploration at Wulingyuan Scenic Area to see Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain. (B+L)

Begin your morning at Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. You will have ample time to immerse yourself in the enchanting scenery of Wulingyuan, a breathtaking landscape characterized by more than 3,000 towering sandstone pillars that evoke an extraterrestrial world.

Ascend to Yuanjiajie via the Bailong Elevator, the world’s tallest outdoor lift. You’ll enter the surreal landscapes that inspired Avatar, where you can photograph the towering Hallelujah Mountains. Follow the cliffside trail to discover natural wonders like the First Bridge Under Heaven.

Continue to Tianzi Mountain, the "King of Peaks," named for a historic Tujia leader. This 1,262-meter UNESCO site is famous for its "sea of clouds" and as a Journey to the West filming location. Admire the West Sea Peaks from Dianjiangtai and see the Imperial Writing Brush Peaks, legendary stone "pens" of the emperor.

Later, walk to He Long Park to see the big bronze statue of the Marshal. Do not miss the Tianzige Pavilion. It is 30 meters tall and gives you a great 360-degree view of the many mountain peaks in the park.

Day 6 Zhangjiajie Tour | Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, Baofeng Lake
Spend another day in Zhangjiajie visiting Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, and Baofeng Lake. (B+L)

After breakfast, we’ll drive you from Wulingyuan to the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. It’s a 56-kilometer trip that takes about 90 minutes.

The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is a stunning area famous for its fresh mountain air, waterfalls, and the famous Glass Bridge. Walking across this clear glass path feels like floating 300 meters above the trees. If you're feeling extra brave, you can try the world’s highest bungee jump (optional). It’s the ultimate spot for breathtaking photos and an exciting rush!

After the scary Glass Bridge, go to Baofeng Lake to rest. Take a shuttle bus to the boat pier. You will ride a wooden boat on the clear water. The lake is very quiet with many green trees and tall cliffs. You can see the mountains in the water and listen to local people sing beautiful songs.

Day 7 Zhangjiajie Departure | Tianmenshan National Forest Park, Tianmenshan Cable Car, Tianmen Cave, Glass Walkway
Depart Zhangjiajie, hotel check-out before 12:00, and airport see-off. Safe journey home. (B, L)

Today, discover Tianmen Mountain, a sacred landmark known as the "Soul of Zhangjiajie." It’s very close to the city and great for everyone since there’s no tough climbing needed. You’ll ride  the world's longest cable car straight to the top! While most areas are easy to reach, you can even take an elevator to avoid the stairs at Tianmen Cave.

First, enjoy a 30-minute cable car journey (7,455 meters) from Zhangjiajie City to the summit of Tianmen Mountain. During your ascent, you will experience a panoramic view of the renowned 99-bend mountain road (the Road to Heaven) and the exquisite beauty of the natural bonsai gardens.

Get ready for an unforgettable thrill. Take a deep breath and step onto the Glass Walkway, where you’ll walk across 60 meters of clear glass floating 1,430 meters above the deep valley. It truly feels like walking on air. Afterward, follow the 1.6-kilometer Cliff-Hanging Walkway that hugs the mountain’s edge—it’s an incredible adventure with unbeatable views.

Next, you can explore Tianmen Temple, a beautiful Buddhist site built in the traditional style of the Qing Dynasty. It’s tucked away in thick green forests, making it a peaceful place to relax. You can also head up to Yunmenxianding, the highest point at 1,518 meters, for a stunning overhead view of the entire park.

Later, take the escalator down to Tianmen Cave (Heaven's Gate Hole), a stunning 131.5-meter-high natural arch. Whether it’s misty or sunny, the changing light makes for incredible photos. To finish your visit, you can either walk down the 999 steps for a challenge or take the quick elevator back to the cable car station.

Your 7 Days Chongqing Zhangjiajie Group Tour concludes today. Your guide will transfer you to the airport or station for your flight or high-speed train. We appreciate you choosing Asia Odyssey Travel!
