- Distance to Huangshan Scenic Area: ~47 km

We recommend spending your arrival day in Tunxi (downtown Huangshan) or nearby ancient villages like Hongcun or Xidi. Then plan your Yellow Mountain visit over the following 1–2 days for a more relaxed itinerary.
Departure Stations in Shanghai
Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station is the most popular and convenient. With over 20 daily trains to Huangshan North, fast travel times (around 2.5–3 hours), and a location next to Hongqiao Airport. It’s easily reached via Metro Lines 2, 10, or 17.
Shanghai South Station also operates over 10 daily trains to Huangshan, with similar travel times. However, it's located in the southern suburbs and is less central. It connects to the city via Metro Lines 1, 3, and 15.
Shanghai Railway Station (in the downtown area) runs about 10 trains per day as well, but most routes detour north via Suzhou and Nanjing, making the trip around 4.5 hours. On the plus side, it’s just 3 Metro stops from People's Square by Line 1.
Pro Tips: Double-check your departure station when booking your ticket. Shanghai has multiple stations, and going to the wrong one could delay your trip!
