Shanghai to Wuyuan High-Speed Train (Fastest Option)
The high-speed train is by far the easiest and fastest way to get from Shanghai to Wuyuan.
In just about 3 hours, you can travel over 500 km and go from a modern big city to quiet countryside villages—it's honestly a pretty smooth experience.
The bullet train will pass by Hangzhou and Huangshan, best for those who would travel to both spots together.
How to Take the Train
Most trains depart from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, with a few options from Shanghai South (Shanghainan) Railway Station.
When purchasing tickets, you will find that there are other railway stations in Shanghai that also have trains to Wuyuan. Just ignore them, don't get distracted.
The arrival station is Wuyuan Railway Station, no transfers needed. The entire journey takes 3-3.5 hours. The fastest train is G1509, taking only 2 hours and 54 minutes.
There are about 10 trains daily (subject to seasonal adjustments), from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with more concentrated departures in the morning and evening.
