Qianlingshan Park 黔灵山公园 – Monkeys, Mountains & a Touch of Zen
Kick off your Guiyang journey than with a peaceful escape to Qianlingshan Park.
Qianlingshan Park is Guiyang’s beloved green lung—a perfect blend of nature, culture, and cheeky monkeys. Just a short ride from downtown, this park offers fresh air, forested hills, and a peaceful escape from the urban buzz.
Start from the south gate, then either hike 30 minutes or hop on a cable car to the top of the hill, where you’ll find Hongfu Temple—an ancient Buddhist temple with panoramic views over Guiyang city.
But the real stars of this park? The wild monkeys. As you descend on the opposite side, you’ll run into them. They’re cute, curious, and sometimes a little too bold (hold onto your snacks and phones!).
Still wanting more? Rent a paddleboat to stroll around the Qianling Lake or meet the adorable pandas, red pandas, tigers in the small zoo at the foot of the mountain.
Local tip: Go early morning to see locals doing tai chi by the lake, feeding fish, or enjoying bird walks. It’s where Guiyang truly wakes up.
Jiaxiu Tower 甲秀楼 – The Elegant Symbol of Guiyang
Next, head to Jiaxiu Tower, the iconic landmark of Guiyang. Built in 1598 during the Ming Dynasty, this elegant structure balances atop a giant rock in the Nanming River, connected by the photogenic Fuyu Bridge.
By day, admire its traditional architecture reflected in the water. By night, it lights up beautifully with the city skyline behind—Instagram gold!
Inside, you’ll find calligraphy scrolls, poems, and a quiet atmosphere perfect for escaping the city buzz—just for a bit. Don’t miss the 206-character long couplet, which poetically summarizes Guizhou’s nearly 3,000 years of geography and history.
On the south side of the bridge, take a stroll through Cuiwei Garden, a Suzhou-style courtyard with peaceful pavilions and waterways—it’s like a piece of Jiangnan in Guizhou.
It’s centrally located in Guiyang, so you can easily pair it with a visit to Qingyun Market or Minsheng Road for food right after.

Qingyun Market 青云市集 - Where Guiyang Comes Alive at Night!
Just a short walk (1 km) from Jiaxiu Tower, you’ll stumble upon one of Guiyang’s trendiest spots: Qingyun Market.
This 1,020-meter-long cultural block is a collision of old and new—ancient-style architecture decked out in neon lights, housing everything from quirky boutiques and creative markets to bars, cafés, and live music. It’s a hotspot for the city’s young crowd.
And the food? Legendary. From spicy Sour Soup Fish of Qiandongnan, chicken dumplings of Xingyi, and rolled rice noodles of Tongren, to Huaxi beef noodles, roast pork trotters, and Guizhou-style hotpot—this is your chance to try nearly every famous Guizhou dish in one place.
Try to grab some handmade trinkets, ethnic jewelry, or quirky souvenirs in between bites. It’s definitely cheaper than those in tourist spots!
Best time to go: Around 6 PM, when the lights come on and the smells fill the air.
Qingyan Ancient Town 青岩古镇 - Step into Guiyang’s Time Machine
If you have extra half day, do not miss the Qingyan Ancient Town in Huaxi. Just 1 hour’s drive south of the city, Qingyan Ancient Town is where you time-travel back to Ming Dynasty vibes, complete with stone walls, ancient gates, narrow alleyways, and… snacks (of course)!
The town is laid out in a "+" shape, with four main streets and four gates. Enter through the north gate, the town’s signature landmark with a unique double-eave roof. You can explore well-preserved spots like Wenchang Pavilion, Ciyun Temple, and Zhuangyuan Mansion (built for a local who topped the imperial exams!).
Stroll down lively North Street, where you’ll find snacks, souvenir shops, and cute photography studios. Keep walking and you’ll reach the south gate, where you’ll find Dingguang Lake and the “Mini Great Wall of Guiyang”—perfect for a scenic climb and panoramic views.
Feeling hungry? This is the place to indulge. Don’t miss the braised pork trotters—tender, rich, and packed with flavor. You’ll also find local favorites like sweet rice porridge with cakes (糕粑稀饭) and all kinds of irresistible street food to keep you going.
Guizhou Geological Museum 贵州地质博物馆 – Dino Bones & Underground Wonders
Calling all fossil fans and geology geeks—this museum rocks (literally)! Located in central Guiyang, the Guizhou Geological Museum is the perfect spot to learn why Guizhou is a geological goldmine.
