Guizhou Province Map: Attractions, Cities, Railways 2026

Guizhou Province is one of China's most underrated destinations—low-key, but full of surprises.

Once one of the country's poorest provinces, it has quickly become a rising travel hotspot thanks to its rapidly developing high-speed rail and expressway network.

The map reveals a land shaped by mountains, with dramatic landscapes of peaks, gorges, waterfalls, rivers, and vast karst caves. Guizhou is also a cultural hotspot, home to diverse ethnic groups like the Miao, Dong, Buyi, and Tujia, whose villages and traditions are major highlights.

This Guizhou Map Guide takes you across Guizhou province—from eastern ethnic villages to western gorges—covering key destinations, transport networks, and best travel routes.

Looking at this map, you might be surprised—so many high-speed rail lines weaving through Guizhou's mountains.

But here's something even more surprising: before December 2014, Guizhou had ZERO high-speed railways.

Today, the network is centered on Guiyang, with major lines spreading out in multiple directions, plus several branch routes reaching deeper into the province. This makes it incredibly easy to travel between cities, scenic areas, and ethnic villages.

The table below shows the main railway corridors to help you plan your journey:

Direction Main Route Open Time
East Guiyang – Kaili – (Changsha – Shanghai) Branch: Yuping → Tongren (Fanjingshan) Jun, 2015
Southwest Guiyang – Anshun – (Kunming) Branch: Anshun → Liupanshui; Panzhou → Xingyi Dec, 2016
Southeast Guiyang – Duyun – Rongjiang – (Guilin – Guangzhou) Branch: Duyun → Libo → Nanning Dec, 2024
North Guiyang – Zunyi – (Chongqing) Jan, 2018
Northwest Guiyang – Bijie – (Yibin – Chengdu) Dec, 2019
Bullet Train Travel Tips in Guizhou
  • Most popular tourist destinations (Kaili/Xijiang, Libo, Tongren/Fanjingshan, Anshun/Huangguoshu) are directly accessible by high-speed rail.
  • Guiyang is the core transfer hub with 2 bullet train stations: Guiyang North and Guiyang East; you can reach any major scenic area within 1–3 hours.
  • Book tickets 2 week in advance during holidays, as routes between scenic spots fill up quickly.
  • Many stations are a short bus or taxi ride away from the actual attractions.

Possibly the best decision settling on Kingdom of Happiness (Bhutan) as my first international travel destination in 3 years, and most definitely the best choice engaging AOT for this trip! Kyle Li was my agent and he was very responsive and engaging even through Chinese New Year holidays, true to their 24/7 service promise. Best of all we could use WhatsApp for quick messages and updates instead of relying on emails. Not only did he accommodate to my requests during booking, clear and precise in communication, he even checked on me on a couple of occasions during my trip in Bhutan to make sure that everything was going well. I felt very safe (being a solo traveller) knowing that I have the back up and care of an overseas travel agent on top of the topnotch services from the locals! I never expected an agency that cared this much! The local guide Dorji Norbu and driver Yeshi Tshering, whom they arranged for me were superb. So humble, courteous and accommodating, such great people I felt so at ease and comfortable with eventhough I was the only person they took for 7 days! Honestly impressed with their above and beyond services! I feel so enriched from their care, as well as country and people from this journey as a whole. Thank you AOT, Kyle, Dorji & Yeshi for making this memorable for me. - Colleen Lau read more
