Where is Seoul Incheon Airport (ICN)? Location & Dierection
Seoul Incheon Airport, usually called ICN, is not in downtown Seoul. It sits on Yeongjong Island, about 48 kilometers (30 miles) west of central Seoul.
Even with a fast airport train or smooth road traffic, you should usually budget around 45-60 minutes to reach the city, and longer if you are going to areas like Gangnam or Jamsil.

Incheon Airport is absolutely massive, so knowing exactly where your boarding gate lives will save you from a pre-flight sprint. Older guides may still say Asiana uses T1, but Asiana moved all ICN flights to Terminal 2 from January 14, 2026. Always confirm your terminal on your ticket or the airport departure board.
How to Travel Between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2: Shuttel Bus or ITA?
Landside (Before Security - Free Shuttle Bus)
Catch the free shuttle bus connecting the two terminals. It requires no booking, runs every 10 to 20 minutes from 5:06 AM to 11:56 PM, and takes about 20 minutes.
- T1 to T2: Board at T1, 3F, Gate 8.
- T2 to T1: Board at T2, 3F, Gate 7.
Airside (After Security) - IAT Green/Orange Line (Transit Passengers Only)
From T1's 3F departure floor, follow the green/blue "Transfer" signs to Gate 28, then take the escalator or elevator down to B1 to board the IAT.
The route runs T1 - Concourse - T2. At the Concourse stop, every passenger is forced to get off the train. If your final destination is T2, DO NOT go upstairs.
Stay on the platform, look to your right after exiting, and queue there for the next one-way train continuing to T2. Going upstairs by mistake will trap you in the Concourse with no way back.
Transiting Between T1 and the Concourse
If your boarding pass shows a gate in the 101-132 range, your flight departs from the Concourse - and you'll take that exact same IAT train from T1's B1 platform (down from Gate 28). Ride time is about 5-6 minutes, with trains every 5 minutes.
Once you're in the Concourse, you cannot return to Terminal 1. Finish all your shopping, tax refunds, lounge visits, and meals in T1 before you board the shuttle train.

If you're departing, you want to handle tax refunds, hit duty-free, grab a meal, and find your gate without backtracking. The two Incheon Terminal 1 maps below split exactly along those lines.

T1 Arrivals Map - Navigating 1F & B1
The moment you exit baggage claim, you're on 1F (Arrivals Floor). Use the first map to lock onto these three exits.
For airport limousine buses to downtown Seoul, stay on 1F and look for the bus ticket booths. You can buy tickets inside the terminal near Exits 4 and 9, or outside near Exits 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, and 13.
For many Seoul-bound buses, Exits 4-6 are a useful first direction because they lead toward the bus waiting zones, but always match your bus number to the stop printed on your ticket.
Standard & International Taxi: Use Doors 4 through 8 for the taxi stands. Look for the orange "International Taxi" signs near Doors 4 if you want a fixed fare and English-speaking driver - slightly pricier but predictable.
AREX Subway to Seoul Station (B1): For AREX / Airport Railroad, do not go outside. From the 1F Arrival Hall, follow signs for Airport Railroad / Transportation Center / AREX. Take the escalator or elevator down to B1, then continue into the Transportation Center.
T1 Departures & Entertainment Map - Where to Spend Your Layover
If you are leaving Korea from Terminal 1, separate your time into two parts: landside before security and airside after security. Switch to the second map!
Landside (Before Security):
- Olive Young (B1): Korea's biggest beauty drugstore chain. Prices are often cheaper than airside duty-free for everyday K-beauty. Olive Young is listed in the center of the public B1 area of Terminal 1, open 06:00-22:00.
- Tax Refund Kiosks (3F): Located near Gates 1 and 28 before security. Use these for any purchases under 750,000 KRW - they refund cash or card on the spot.
Airside (After Security) - The Real Fun (3F & 4F)
- Duty-Free K-Beauty Heaven (3F): The Shilla and Shinsegae duty-free halls dominate the airside corridors between Gates 11 and 25. Lotte holds a smaller presence near the West wing.
- Traditional Korean Cultural Experience Centers (3F): Head toward Gates 25 or 29 to find the Traditional Korean Cultural Experience Centers. If you flash your foreign passport, you can try on a beautiful hanbok or make traditional crafts like paper fans completely for free.
- Korean Cultural Street (4 F): Terminal 1 also has Korean Cultural Street in the center of the 4F public area, built with Korean-style tiled-roof houses and a pavilion atmosphere. It is a good photo stop.
- Real Korean Food on 4F: Near Cultural Street is for the proper Korean food court - bibimbap, kalguksu, bulgogi, tteokbokki, and Korean BBQ counters with views down to the departure hall.

ICN Airport Terminal 2 Map for Arrival: Fast Track to Seoul
After landing, you exit into 1F Arrivals. This is where you collect your bags, clear customs, and choose your way into Seoul.
For airport limousine buses, stay on 1F and look for ticket areas near Gates 2, 3, 4, and 5. Fares are usually around 15,000-20,000 KRW, depending on the route. This is a good option if your hotel is near a direct airport bus stop.
For taxis, exit on 1F and head to taxi zones 3C-4D. A regular taxi to Seoul usually costs around 60,000-80,000 KRW. Deluxe taxis usually cost around 80,000-100,000 KRW. Choose this if you have heavy luggage, arrive late, or want a direct hotel drop-off.
For AREX, go down to B1. The Express Train takes about 51 minutes and costs 13,000 KRW. The All-Stop Train takes 60+ minutes and costs 4,750 KRW.
ICN Airport Terminal 2 Map for Departure: Landside vs. Airside
Landside, before security:
- Check-in (3F): Counters A through G, organized by airline. Korean Air dominates the central zone; SkyTeam partners flank either side.
- Tax Refund Kiosks (3F): Scan your tax refund receipts at the kiosks positioned between counters D and E before you clear security. Quick, self-service, English-supported.
- B1 Pre-Flight Meal: Hit Shake Shack or the Korean Food Street on B1 before going airside.
- 5F Observation Deck: If you've got 30 minutes to spare, take the elevator up. Floor-to-ceiling views of Korean Air 747s taxiing, sunsets over the Yellow Sea, and almost no crowds.
Airside (After Security): Clear security at West 1 or East 2 - both feed into the same airside concourse, so pick whichever has the shorter line.
