Where is Seoul Incheon Airport (ICN)? Location & Dierection

Seoul Incheon Airport Location Map
Seoul Incheon Airport Location Map

Seoul Incheon Airport, usually called ICN, is not in downtown Seoul. It sits on Yeongjong Island, about 48 kilometers (30 miles) west of central Seoul.

Even with a fast airport train or smooth road traffic, you should usually budget around 45-60 minutes to reach the city, and longer if you are going to areas like Gangnam or Jamsil.

Before choosing a train, airport bus, taxi, or private transfer, take a moment to look at the Location & Direction Map.

Seoul Incheon Airport Gate Map: Terminal 1, 2 & Concourse Layout (With Gate Number)

Seoul Incheon Airport Gate Map
Seoul Incheon Airport Gate Map

Incheon Airport is absolutely massive, so knowing exactly where your boarding gate lives will save you from a pre-flight sprint. As you will see on the Seoul Incheon Airport layout map with gate numbers, the airport is split into three main boarding zones: Terminal 1, the middle Concourse, and Terminal 2.

Seoul Incheon Airport Layout & Overview

Area / Terminal Gate Numbers Number of Floors Size (Area) Main Airlines
Terminal 1 Gates 1-50 (East & West Wings) 6 floors above ground (B2 + 1F-4F) ~496,000 m² Asiana Airlines, United, ANA, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways
Concourse A Gates 101-132 5 floors (B2 + 1F-4F) ~166,000 m² Jeju Air, Jin Air, T'way, Air Busan, AirAsia, Vietnam Airlines, most LCCs & foreign carriers
Terminal 2 Gates 230-270 7 floors (B1 + M + 1F-4F) ~387,000 m² Korean Air, Delta, Air France, KLM, Garuda, Aeroméxico (SkyTeam)
Note for 2026:

Older guides may still say Asiana uses T1, but Asiana moved all ICN flights to Terminal 2 from January 14, 2026. Always confirm your terminal on your ticket or the airport departure board.

How to Travel Between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2: Shuttel Bus or ITA?

Landside (Before Security - Free Shuttle Bus)

Catch the free shuttle bus connecting the two terminals. It requires no booking, runs every 10 to 20 minutes from 5:06 AM to 11:56 PM, and takes about 20 minutes.

  • T1 to T2: Board at T1, 3F, Gate 8.
  • T2 to T1: Board at T2, 3F, Gate 7.

Airside (After Security) - IAT Green/Orange Line (Transit Passengers Only)

From T1's 3F departure floor, follow the green/blue "Transfer" signs to Gate 28, then take the escalator or elevator down to B1 to board the IAT.

Critical warning: The IAT is strictly ONE-WAY.

The route runs T1 - Concourse - T2. At the Concourse stop, every passenger is forced to get off the train. If your final destination is T2, DO NOT go upstairs.

Stay on the platform, look to your right after exiting, and queue there for the next one-way train continuing to T2. Going upstairs by mistake will trap you in the Concourse with no way back.

Transiting Between T1 and the Concourse

If your boarding pass shows a gate in the 101-132 range, your flight departs from the Concourse - and you'll take that exact same IAT train from T1's B1 platform (down from Gate 28). Ride time is about 5-6 minutes, with trains every 5 minutes.

One-way only:

Once you're in the Concourse, you cannot return to Terminal 1. Finish all your shopping, tax refunds, lounge visits, and meals in T1 before you board the shuttle train.

Incheon Terminal 1 Map: How to Arrive, Depart & Explore

Most Incheon Terminl 1 maps look like a circuit board. But what you actually need is simple: if you've just landed, you want the fastest path out of the airport and into Seoul.

If you're departing, you want to handle tax refunds, hit duty-free, grab a meal, and find your gate without backtracking. The two Incheon Terminal 1 maps below split exactly along those lines.

ICN Terminal 1 Floor-by-Floor Layout (B2 to 4F)

Floor Area Primary Functions & Amenities
4F Transit Oasis Premium airline lounges, transit hotels, massive food courts, and cultural exhibition spaces.
3F Departures Check-in counters, security, immigration, boarding gates, and massive duty-free shopping zones.
2F Administrative Airline offices, post office, and quiet zones. (You will rarely need to be here).
1F Arrivals Baggage claim, customs exit, SIM/Wi-Fi pickups, Limousine Bus ticket booths, and taxi stands.
B1 Transportation Center Food courts, Spa On Air, Darakhyu Capsule Hotel, Olive Young, and the main gateway to the trains.
B2 AREX Train Platforms You cannot access B2 directly from outside. You must enter through the B1 Transportation Center to reach the train tracks.

T1 Arrivals Map - Navigating 1F & B1

Seoul Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Map for Arrival
Seoul Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Map for Arrival

The moment you exit baggage claim, you're on 1F (Arrivals Floor). Use the first map to lock onto these three exits.

For airport limousine buses to downtown Seoul, stay on 1F and look for the bus ticket booths. You can buy tickets inside the terminal near Exits 4 and 9, or outside near Exits 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, and 13.

For many Seoul-bound buses, Exits 4-6 are a useful first direction because they lead toward the bus waiting zones, but always match your bus number to the stop printed on your ticket.

Standard & International Taxi: Use Doors 4 through 8 for the taxi stands. Look for the orange "International Taxi" signs near Doors 4 if you want a fixed fare and English-speaking driver - slightly pricier but predictable.

AREX Subway to Seoul Station (B1): For AREX / Airport Railroad, do not go outside. From the 1F Arrival Hall, follow signs for Airport Railroad / Transportation Center / AREX. Take the escalator or elevator down to B1, then continue into the Transportation Center.

If you are leaving Korea from Terminal 1, separate your time into two parts: landside before security and airside after security. Switch to the second map!

Landside (Before Security):

  • Olive Young (B1): Korea's biggest beauty drugstore chain. Prices are often cheaper than airside duty-free for everyday K-beauty. Olive Young is listed in the center of the public B1 area of Terminal 1, open 06:00-22:00.
  • Tax Refund Kiosks (3F): Located near Gates 1 and 28 before security. Use these for any purchases under 750,000 KRW - they refund cash or card on the spot.

Airside (After Security) - The Real Fun (3F & 4F)

  • Duty-Free K-Beauty Heaven (3F): The Shilla and Shinsegae duty-free halls dominate the airside corridors between Gates 11 and 25. Lotte holds a smaller presence near the West wing.
  • Traditional Korean Cultural Experience Centers (3F): Head toward Gates 25 or 29 to find the Traditional Korean Cultural Experience Centers. If you flash your foreign passport, you can try on a beautiful hanbok or make traditional crafts like paper fans completely for free.
  • Korean Cultural Street (4 F): Terminal 1 also has Korean Cultural Street in the center of the 4F public area, built with Korean-style tiled-roof houses and a pavilion atmosphere. It is a good photo stop.
  • Real Korean Food on 4F: Near Cultural Street is for the proper Korean food court - bibimbap, kalguksu, bulgogi, tteokbokki, and Korean BBQ counters with views down to the departure hall.

Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Map: Modern Layout, AREX & Airside Highlights

T2 is the calmer, more design-forward sibling of T1 - opened in 2018 as the dedicated home of Korean Air, Delta, Air France, KLM, and Asiana (which fully merges into the SkyTeam side in 2026).

Shorter walks, cleaner sightlines, more natural light. The layout below pairs with the Two ICN Terminal 2 maps Below to get you oriented in under a minute.

T2 Layout Table

Floor Main Area What You'll Find
B1 Public Area / Transportation AREX train, Limousine Bus Terminal, Korean Food Street, Shake Shack, Olive Young
M Packing Lot Packing Lot
1F Arrivals Arrivals hall, baggage claim, bus boarding, taxi boarding
2F Airline Offices & Transit Airline offices, transit-related services
3F Departures & Airside Gates Check-in counters A-G, tax refund kiosks near D/E, airside Gates 201-270, duty-free
4F Food & Lounges Large food court, lounges; no Culture Street like Terminal 1
5F Observation Deck Unique to T2; great for plane watching and quiet photos

ICN Airport Terminal 2 Map for Arrival: Fast Track to Seoul

Seoul Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Map for Arrival
Seoul Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Map for Arrival

After landing, you exit into 1F Arrivals. This is where you collect your bags, clear customs, and choose your way into Seoul.

For airport limousine buses, stay on 1F and look for ticket areas near Gates 2, 3, 4, and 5. Fares are usually around 15,000-20,000 KRW, depending on the route. This is a good option if your hotel is near a direct airport bus stop.

For taxis, exit on 1F and head to taxi zones 3C-4D. A regular taxi to Seoul usually costs around 60,000-80,000 KRW. Deluxe taxis usually cost around 80,000-100,000 KRW. Choose this if you have heavy luggage, arrive late, or want a direct hotel drop-off.

For AREX, go down to B1. The Express Train takes about 51 minutes and costs 13,000 KRW. The All-Stop Train takes 60+ minutes and costs 4,750 KRW.

Landside, before security:

  • Check-in (3F): Counters A through G, organized by airline. Korean Air dominates the central zone; SkyTeam partners flank either side.
  • Tax Refund Kiosks (3F): Scan your tax refund receipts at the kiosks positioned between counters D and E before you clear security. Quick, self-service, English-supported.
  • B1 Pre-Flight Meal: Hit Shake Shack or the Korean Food Street on B1 before going airside.
  • 5F Observation Deck: If you've got 30 minutes to spare, take the elevator up. Floor-to-ceiling views of Korean Air 747s taxiing, sunsets over the Yellow Sea, and almost no crowds.

Airside (After Security): Clear security at West 1 or East 2 - both feed into the same airside concourse, so pick whichever has the shorter line.

  • Tax Refund Cash Pickup (3F): After immigration, head toward Gates 249 or 253 to collect your refund in cash.
  • Shopping (3F): The main duty-free shopping zones sit across 3F near the boarding gates, with major beauty, perfume, fashion, and luxury stores clustered around gates such as 248-255.
  • Node Gardens (4F for business travelers): Look for T2's indoor Node Gardens and green spaces. Terminal 2 was designed around "eco" and "art," with airside garden areas that feel closer to a small indoor park than a normal airport corridor.

Seoul - Incheon Airport Transportation Map

Seoul - Incheon Airport Transportation Map
Seoul - Incheon Airport Transportation Map

Because Incheon Airport is built on an island outside the city, there is no such thing as a "quick jump" into Seoul. You need to budget 45 to 60 minutes for transit.

The method you choose should come down to two things: how heavy your luggage is, and exactly which neighborhood you are sleeping in. Use the transportation map to match your route.

AREX Airport Railroad (Best for Speed & Budget)

If you are staying near a major subway hub like Seoul Station or Hongdae, the AREX is your best bet.

  • The Express Train: A straight shot to Seoul Station with zero stops. It takes 43 minutes from T1 (51 minutes from T2) and costs 13,000 KRW (about $9.50 USD). It features assigned seating and dedicated luggage racks-perfect for beating unpredictable city traffic.
  • The All-Stop Train: Slower (about 60 minutes) but cheaper at under 5,000 KRW (about $3.50 USD). This is the train you want if your hotel is in Hongdae or if you need to transfer to Gimpo Airport for a domestic flight.

Airport Limousine Bus (Best for Direct Hotel Drops)

If you have massive suitcases, avoid the Seoul subway system at all costs-the endless stairs will ruin your first day.

The Limousine Buses (fares run around 17,000 to 18,000 KRW, or $12-$13 USD) feature plush, assigned seating and drop you directly in front of major hotels in popular districts like Myeongdong and Gangnam.

Your luggage goes safely underneath the bus, meaning you don't have to haul it a single inch until you arrive.

Taxis & Private Transfers (Best for Families & Red-Eye Flights)

If you are traveling with a group of three or four, a taxi often makes the most financial sense. A regular metered taxi into central Seoul will run you about 60,000 to 80,000 KRW (roughly $45-$60 USD).

They are available 24/7 at the 1F arrivals curb, making them the ultimate lifeline if your flight lands after the trains and buses shut down at midnight.

I'm looking at the Incheon Airport map-how do I get from Terminal 1 to the Concourse for my flight, and can I come back? +
After clearing T1 security, head to B1 to catch the underground Shuttle Train (IAT). Crucial warning: This train is strictly one-way! You cannot return to T1, so finish all your major duty-free shopping and dining before heading down.
I just landed at Incheon Terminal 2 and need to get to Seoul. Where exactly on the map do I find the AREX train? +
Ignore the doors outside the 1F Arrivals Hall. Instead, walk toward the center of 1F and take the escalators straight down to the B1 Transportation Center. The AREX train platforms connect directly to this underground hub.
I have a long layover at Incheon Terminal 1. Are there any unique Korean experiences or cool spots I can walk to according to the map? +
Absolutely. Landside, hit Spa On Air (B1) for a relaxing sauna. Airside, head to the Traditional Korean Cultural Experience Centers near Gates 25 or 29 to make free traditional crafts, or visit the massive Riot Games arcade near Gate 30.
I'm arriving past midnight at Incheon Terminal 1. Based on the transport map, what are my options if the trains and buses are closed? +
The AREX and regular Limousine Buses stop running around midnight. Your best bet is to grab a regular metered taxi from the official stands outside 1F, which operate 24/7. Expect to pay 60,000 to 80,000 KRW (about $45-$60 USD).
I'm departing from Incheon Airport and need a tax refund. Where should I go on the map? +
Start on the 3F departure floor. In Terminal 2, scan receipts at tax refund kiosks between Counters D and E, then collect cash airside near Gates 249 or 253. In Terminal 1, check refund points before security and near the gate area.
I have a 4-hour layover at Seoul Incheon Airport. Based on the map, what should I do near Terminal 2? +
Stay inside Terminal 2 unless your layover is very relaxed. Before security, visit the 5F Observation Deck. After security, use the duty-free zones, food areas, Node Gardens, or Traditional Korean Cultural Experience Centers near the gates.
